We are seeking a cleared or clearable Engineering Manager for a critical role in our engineering organization to be responsible for managing a team and ensuring successful execution of projects.  This position comes with periodic overtime pay, the ability to work occasionally from home and a flexible work schedule.

This is a dual role position including the management of a talented team of multi-discipline engineers as well as project engineering leadership for technically advanced development programs producing cutting edge hardware and software products. These products support all domains of intelligence and defense battlespaces including land, sea, air, cyber , and space. Many of the problem-sets our customers expect us to solve do not have known solutions, so ingenuity is essential.

Ideal candidates for this position have breadth of knowledge in multiple aspects of engineering including embedded software, FPGA firmware, RF hardware and systems engineering as well as depth in one or more of these areas.  Less experienced candidates that demonstrate high technological aptitude with a willingness and desire to learn are equally qualified for this position.

Your Functional Management responsibilities include:

• For your approximate 15 direct reports:
  • Setting and monitoring objectives and overseeing workload
  • Providing timely, constructive support and feedback
  • Completing semi-annual performance assessments
  • Driving motivation and engagement
  • Facilitating regular meetings
  • Providing mentoring and career development
  • Coordinating training
  • Providing tools and resources for development activities
• For the greater organization:
  • Supporting recruiting activities (interviews, sourcing and hiring top-ranked engineering talent)
  • Owning employee engagement activities

Your Project Engineering leadership duties for your assigned programs include:

• Driving successful technical execution meeting cost and schedule objectives
• Tracking tasking and providing technical direction and guidance
• Managing staffing including adding/removing engineers to/from the program
• Tracking risks and developing and implementing mitigation plans
• Organizing and providing work estimates for proposals and follow-on work

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with 9+ years of experience within a related engineering field
• Demonstrated strong leadership qualities, including excellent communication and collaboration, team engagement, and organizational skills
• Demonstrated experience leading technical execution of engineering projects
• US Citizenship is required
• Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance per business requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

• Current and active Top Secret clearance
• Experience as a Project Engineer (or technical lead) and Functional Manager
• Experience in multiple relevant technology areas (embedded SW, FPGA, RF, systems)
• Experience in recruiting and developing top engineering talent
• M.S., M.B.A., or other advanced degree

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Salary Range: $134,400 USD - $201,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
