This position is for a Sr. Principal NGC Lab Operations Cognizant Engineer at Tinker AFB , and will require spending a short term assignment for the first 4 - 6 months in Melbourne, Florida, learning all facets of the job in an operational environment, followed by returning to Tinker Air Force Base to begin work at that location. 

Specific Duties include:

  • Involved in lab operations including, but not limited to, laboratory design, test planning, scheduling, and execution and reporting.

  • Ensure test stations and assets are configured and ready to test by deploying software and configuring hardware on the test stations. 

  • Work closely with QA to maintain and validate test station software and hardware.

  • Perform TRR, ATP for test stations and integration events.

  • Brief management of progress and status of the all the labs.

  • Manage daily lab operations and activities to be in compliance with policies and procedures from Northrop Grumman Corporation and SIT&E.

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline and 9 years of relevant experience; OR a Master's Degree in a STEM discipline with 7 years of relevant experience; OR a PhD with 4 years of relevant experience.

  • Must have familiarity with Test Equipment, such as digital multimeters, O-scopes, power supplies etc.

  • Must have familiarity with Electronic Principles, MIL STD protocol for 1553, 429, and 1394 busses.

  • Must be capable to read and comprehend schematic diagrams.

  • Must possess a DoD Secret Security clearance to start and then must obtain Special Programs Access (SAP). This SAP must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs. SAP must be obtained prior to commencement of employment.

  • Must be willing to a short term assignment for the first 4 - 6 months in Melbourne, Florida, then returning to Tinker, AFB

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiar using scheduling tools, such as MS Project.

  • Familiar with Linux and Windows Operating Systems.

  • Familiarity with avionics systems and equipment.


Salary Range: $93,500 USD - $140,300 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
