Job Description

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is searching for an Sr. Principal Engineer Systems to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. Our team supports operational and business improvement across 1800 employees located in Utah, Ohio, California and Mississippi. This position will be located in Clearfield, UT.

Responsibilities:

Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

  • The candidate will serve as a Sr. Principal Engineer Systems and function in a dynamic multi-disciplinary environment.
  • The candidate should possess strong technical problem solving, written and verbal communication skills, perform technical assessments and participate in CCB (Change Control Board) and data review activities.
  • The candidate is expected to regularly interface with operations, program management, engineering staff and external customers.
  • The candidate should be willing to occasionally work during odd hours (nights/weekends) and occasionally longer than normal (>40 hrs/wk) to meet deadlines.
  • The candidate should possess a strong resolve to drive tasks to completion autonomously.
  • Provides data for and assists in risk management (identifies potential risks).
  • Prepares and presents materials for program major milestone meetings.
  • Be well versed in specification compliance, statement of work, contractual requirements Supplier Quality Assessment Review and program compliance
  • Responsible for failure investigations, Customer/DCMA CARs, escapements, and data analytics to drive corrective actions

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree plus 9 years of related experience; Masters’ degree plus 7 years of related experience; or a PhD plus 4 years of related experience
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance and special program access
  • Ability to travel (10%)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in a STEM discipline plus 9 years of related experience; Masters’ degree in a STEM discipline plus 7 years of related experience; or a PhD plus 4 years of related experience
  • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance last investigated within 5 1/2 years
  • Technical composite structural knowledge
  • Entire-product-lifecycle Systems Engineering
  • In-depth knowledge of composite specifications
  • Comprehensive understanding of technical requirements for composites and the dynamic properties of composites

Salary Range: $112,000 USD - $168,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
