Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer. This position will be located in Roy, UT and will support the Mission Defense Team (MDT) in Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package. This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.

As a Systems Engineer on this team, you will support a team of engineers to define, develop, decompose, analyze, verify, and validate requirements for weapon system. In this role, you will be supporting program leadership and the customer to define and maintain the technical baseline. Ultimately, you will support the program through maturity and milestones to achieve the mission by ensuring teams are aware of the compliance requirements they will need to meet. 

Candidates should be highly motivated engineers who can work both independently and in team environments.

What you’ll get to do: 

The selected candidate will support the Nuclear Surety sub-IPT within MDT in the following areas:

  • Provide systems engineering, integration, and test support to ICBM development and modification program
  • Apply the principles of engineering to design components and systems using applicable standards and specifications
  • Participate in technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for mechanical, electrical and integrated systems
  • Perform requirements analysis, develop source data for requirements, generate test requirements and prepare test reports (Nuclear Surety Evaluations)
  • Evaluate physical security designs/implementations for compliance with DoD mandated requirements
  • Support all phases of the systems lifecycle including concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal
  • Maintain design documentation and follow configuration management requirements

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80A. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

You’ll bring these qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline from an ABET accredited university
  • US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance adjudicated within the last 6 years
  • Ability to obtain and maintain special program access within a reasonable time
  • Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience with a bachelor’s in science; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with a PHD

These qualifications would be nice to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or software discipline
  • Active DOD Top Secret Clearance
  • Experience with electrical or software analyses/test; verification of requirements
  • Experience with Agile Development
  • Experience with any of the following tools and languages: CORE, DOORs, Rhapsody, Cameo, ModelCenter, MagicDraw, SysML
  • Experience working with Nuclear Surety Requirements and the Nuclear Certification process (e.g. AFI 63-125, AFMAN 91-118/91-119/31-108, DODM 5210.41, AFI 91-107)
  • Prior experience and working knowledge of the GBSD program

Salary Range: $87,600 USD - $131,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
