Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Systems Engineer / Principal Systems Engineer. This position will be located in Roy, UT and will support the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.

What you’ll get to do: 

  • Track requirement allocations into specs, traceability (parent to child… vertical)
  • Track status and report on barrens and orphans
  • Track and report status of spec board approvals
  • Brief status weekly
  • Check provided CI spec list for accuracy
  • Tracking status for any new specs that get created not on the original list
  • Talk to specialties and report any roadblocks that are preventing requirement allocation and decomposition.
  • Help in development of tableau dashboard and then use “Tableau” metrics to identify and track requirements, barrens and orphans, report weekly status, etc.
  • You will be deployed to various engineering specialties to get documents correctly updated in DOORS.  This includes ensuring the following are correctly established in each file:
  • Tailored text – (filled out by the specialty engineers but could be populated in DOORS by this person)
  • Allocation
  • Develop processes, decompose processes into program plan, update RMMP, update compliance process, etc.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80A. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Basic Qualifications:

This requisition may be filled at either a Systems Engineer level or Principal level.

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics)
  • A minimum 2 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree; 0 years with a master’s (Principal level requires 5 years with a bachelor’s degree; 3 years with a master’s degree; or 0 years with a PhD)
  • U.S. Citizenship with an active DoD Secret Clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years
  • Ability to obtain Special Access Program Clearance
  • Experience interfacing with various stakeholders to drive to a consensus, conclusion, or action plan
  • Experience with design specifications and requirement decomposition

Preferred Qualifications:

  • DoD Top Secret Security Clearance
  • GBSD Program Cleared (CJ1)
  • Experienced in consolidating stakeholder needs across multiple Integrated Product Teams (IPTs)
  • Knowledge of Project Management principles and experience
  • Experience applying Agile Engineering principles and methodologies
  • Experience with Interface Control Documents (ICDs)
  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Systems Engineering
  • Experience using Common Product Lifecycle Management (CPLM)
  • Experience developing program procedures and processes
  • Experience developing, implementing, and updating project schedules
  • Proficient using IBM Rationale Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System (DOORS)
  • Experience coordinating between cross functional teams
  • Excellent decision making and communication (written and oral) skills

Salary Range: $73,400 USD - $110,000 USD
Salary Range 2: $90,400 USD - $135,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
