Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Principal / Senior Principal Systems Engineer to join the Payload Team. This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. The selected candidate will join a team of engineers and project managers supporting the development and test of Re-entry Vehicle systems. This position may be filled at a higher level based on qualifications below.

What you’ll get to do:

  • Facilitate internal and external stake holder reviews
  • Adjudicate and resolve comments, action items, support review board release process
  • Participate in revision and management of both original and revised specification/interface definition document and expedite documents through signature approval process.
  • Participate in team agile work management process
  • Contribute to risk management (identifies potential risks) and trade study processes
  • Supports system design, data analyses, interface verification, testing, failure/anomaly resolution and mission operations
  • Attends and prepares materials for presentation during Enterprise, Subcontract Management Team, Industry technical reviews
  • Supports trade studies, system sensitivity studies, design optimization studies, system performance assessments, system design assessments, Operations Analysis work such as mission analysis and timelines and concept of operations development
  • Apply the principles of engineering to design components and systems using applicable standards and specifications
  • Verify specifications and designs through modeling and simulation, test data processing, and performance analysis
  • Support all phases of the systems lifecycle including concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal
  • Maintain design documentation and follow configuration management requirements
  • Assist in Basis of Estimates (BOEs) reviews for the Subcontract Management Team (SMT)
  • Utilize abilities to communicate clearly and effectively; presenting/interacting with all levels of leadership
  • Interface with AF customer

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Basic Qualifications:

This position may be filled at a Principal or Sr. Principal level

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 5 years of systems engineering related experience; 3 years with a Master’s Degree; or 0 years with PhD (Sr. Principal requires 9 years with a BS; 7 years with a Master’s; or 4 years with PhD)
  • U.S. Citizenship with an active DoD Secret clearance or higher awarded or reviewed in the last 6 years (eligible for Special Access Program)
  • Experience with Reentry vehicles, support equipment, and specialty equipment design
  • Experience with MBSE and CAMEO, Rhapsody, Systems Architect, PTC Integrity or other similar COTS packages
  • Experience with MA, PM&P, Safety, MIL STD Compliance documentation, Cyber and SW practices, and ILS processes

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with NX and CREO MCAD, ECAD experience a plus.
  • Familiarity with SDLC processes as well as with ITIL, Agile-SCRUM, Scaled
  • Agile Framework (SAFe), NGC security requirements, services and enterprise solutions
  • Prior experience supporting various classified environments and meeting government and security requirements
  • Successful experiences in delivering solutions to program, commercial,
  • and government clients
  • Knowledge of the following technical domains: software, network security, business analytics
  • Strong leadership, team building, and team partnering skills
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Ability to provide total system perspective including a technical understanding of relationships, dependencies and requirements of hardware and software components

Salary Range: $87,600 USD - $131,400 USD
Salary Range 2: $108,600 USD - $163,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
