Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Principal Systems Modeling and Simulation Engineer. This position will be located in Roy, Utah and will support the Sentinel (GBSD) program. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

What you’ll get to do: 

The selected candidate will be part of the Logistics Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis team.

The selected engineer will analyze and simulate performance metrics to monitor the Sentinel weapon system through test and sustainment. The candidate will perform logistics related analysis and maintenance planning of the Sentinel platform. The candidate will influence system design to enhance supportability and utilize engineering data from various sources to determine logistics requirements.

Task and responsibilities includes but not limited to:

  • Develops new and/or integrates existing system simulation frameworks, performance models and algorithms, threat models and command and control models.
  • Simulates real-time operations and develops software that simulates behavior of systems.
  • Model operational environments, performs trade studies via computer simulation and recommends alternative architectures.
  • Support MBSE strategy and implementation over the Product Support Architecture Model (PSAM)
  • Coordinate with sub-integrated product architecture teams for compliance with contractual SOW and established program model governance
  • Coordinate with integrated product teams for establishing content within the architecture
  • Contribute content to presentations of PSAM work to internal and external stakeholders

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80A. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

You’ll bring these qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics)
  • A minimum 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; 3 years with a Master’s; or 0 years with PhD
  • Active DoD Secret clearance
  • US Citizen eligible for Special Access Program Clearance (DoD clearance awarded or reviewed within the last 5.5 years)
  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must be knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Suite - Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Word
  • Possess preliminary experience in Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis (MS&A) or Operations Research (OR) activities
  • Experience performing in a Systems Engineering or related technical discipline and understanding of systems engineering principles and processes
  • Willingness to work in a Model-Based Systems Engineering environment

These qualifications would be nice to have:

  • Experience with Mathematical Modeling, Statistics, and/or Optimization
  • Development and/or application of analytic methodologies to predict or calculate metrics
  • Software scripting experience to automate analytics (python, ruby, C++, VBA, etc.)
  • SQL Server Relational Database development and utilization
  • Experience on a Model Based Systems Engineering activity / program
  • Experience with Systems Engineering Requirement definition and verification planning
  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
  • Experience with basic systems engineering toolset and languages (e.g. DOORS, Rhapsody, Cameo, UML, SysML)
  • Experience with Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Testability requirements and analysis
  • Experience with Product Support Analysis (PSA) and the 12 Integrated Product Support (IPS) Elements

Salary Range: $90,400 USD - $135,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
