Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer -Communications to join the Command and Launch Team. This position will be located in Roy, UT and support the Sentinel (GBSD) program.

What you’ll get to do

Responsibilities includes but not limited to:

  • Development, production and deployment of Command & Launch Communications Equipment hardware, software and systems for each weapon system facility. The selected candidate will work in a dynamic people-focused environment where he/she will interact with users, customers and other engineers
  • Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal
  • Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints
  • Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications
  • Maintain processes and procedures for the assembly and test of spacecraft, Coordinate integration activities with supervisors, program engineers and various customer organizations
  • Document and disposition hardware discrepancies and pursuing root cause and corrective actions
  • Design and developing tooling to aid in the integration and test process

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

You’ll bring these qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with 4 years of relevant engineering experience or a Master’s Degree and 3 years of engineering experience
  • Active DoD Secret level clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years or in continues evaluation.
  • US Citizen eligible to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP)
  • Strong understanding of general system engineering principles
  • Experience with requirement analysis, allocation, and traceability
  • Ability to trace system requirements through the development cycle
  • Experience coordinating among multiple disciplines to balance requirements
  • Experience in design, support prototype and final hardware build & test
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiarization with DoD systems and subsystems (e.g. weapons platforms, C2ISR platforms, SATCOM, IFF, RADAR, radios, data links, munitions)

These qualifications would be nice to have:

  • Experience with Communication Systems
  • Experience with ICBMs
  • Experience analyzing network applications for communications systems. (Familiar with network architecture and analyses)
  • Strong background in network design and management
  • Experience with Agile development
  • Experience with Model Based System Engineering with an understanding of DODAF and SysML
  • Proficiency in DOORS and Cameo

Salary Range: $90,400 USD - $168,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
