Northrop Grumman’s Space Systems sector is seeking a Systems Engineer.  This position is in our Strategic Deterrent Systems Division for the Sentinel Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program in support of the United States Air Force.  This position will be located on campus in Roy, UT.

What You’ll Get To Do: 

Northrop Grumman is looking for talented systems engineers to pioneer how to safely design and operate the next generation ICBM weapon system. A Nuclear Surety engineer has the opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a system designed to provide another 50 years of security for this great nation. Nuclear Surety ensures that nuclear weapons are protected against peacetime and wartime threats at all times. A Nuclear Surety Engineer at Northrop Grumman on the GBSD program will be provided the opportunity to:

  • Performing decomposition of Department of Defense safety manuals into requirements and allocating them to design teams for implementation
  • Provide systems engineering expertise to the design, integration, and testing of a next generation ICBM weapon system
  • Participate in technical planning, system integration, verification, validation, cost, risk, supportability, and analysis for mechanical, electrical, and integrated systems
  • Evaluate the physical security design based on the Department of Defense Safety manuals
  • Interface directly with various compartments of the Department of Defense and Department of Energy to ensure safe design and operation of nuclear weapon systems
  • Use model based engineering tools on a major weapon system to pioneer a new way to evaluate and analyze modern design
  • Learn a niche discipline that spans all aspects of Nuclear Power and Munitions

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.   

Job Qualifications: 

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) with 2 years’ experience; 0 years’ experience with a Master’s 
  • Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance within reasonable time - must obtain final secret clearance before start date
  • Ability to obtain Special Access Program (SAP) Clearance  

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or software engineering discipline
  • Active DOD Secret or Top Secret Clearance
  • Experience with electrical or software analyses/test; verification of requirements
  • Experience with Agile Development
  • Experience with any of the following tools and languages: CORE, DOORs, Rhapsody, Cameo, ModelCenter, MagicDraw, SysML
  • Experience working with Nuclear Surety Requirements and the Nuclear Certification process (e.g. AFI 63-125, AFMAN 91-118/91-119/31-108, DODM 5210.41, AFI 91-107)
  • Prior experience and working knowledge of the GBSD program

Salary Range: $73,400 USD - $110,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
