Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Manager Systems Engineering 1.  This position will be located in Roy, Utah and will support the Sentinel (GBSD) program.  This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.  

What you will get to do:

The Manager Systems Engineering identifies process/resource gaps impacting FST Guidance Computer (GC) operations and subsequently researches available tools/resources/processes and other solutions to address and mitigate constraints to team performance. Identifies opportunities for Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) initiatives and strives to streamline operations and create efficiencies within GC. As the GC Operations Manager you will be responsible for:

  • Supports overall GC IPT operations which will include staffing, facilities, lab environments, program processes, supplier compliance, etc.
  • Receiving and relaying tasks from IPT leadership and assigns the tasks to the sub-IPT teams– responsible to monitor, track, and ensure task completion.  Prepares status reports on the progress of the GC deliverables. Establishes and utilizes metrics to assess cost, schedule, and performance of GC team.
  • May be responsible to organize and/or develop GC -specific training, orientations, lunch & learns, team building activities, or off-sites.
  • Required to draft and develop reports, executive summaries, weekly highlights, and power point briefings for GC and GBSD leadership.
  • Must professionally represent Northrop Grumman in any/all customer meetings and interactions and be aware of ethical/legal implications of government-contractor relationships. Will be required to complete management training in LX Learning within the first 3-6 months of starting position.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors’ degree in STEM and at least 5 years of relevant professional experience
  • 2 years of experience with financial control and maintenance of budgets (including EVMS indices and Variance Explanations)
  • At least 1 year of experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule
  • Ability to obtain DoD Secret Clearance and SAP.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s in engineering, Science Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) or related discipline.
  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills; intermediate to expert in Microsoft Office Suite - Project, PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
  • Must possess the ability to handle multiple tasks in a dynamic environment, work autonomously under general direction and demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience understanding and disseminating program processes across multiple sub-product teams.
  • Experience managing suppliers/subcontractors to include developing SOWs and other contractual documents.
  • Experience in People and Technical Leadership roles.
  • Decision Making: Risk Management, Cost-Risk-Benefit Analysis
  • Experience with working with government/military personnel at government/military facilities.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and practices

Salary Range: $106,400 USD - $159,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
