Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Systems Engineer. This position will be located in Roy, UT and will support the Sentinel (GBSD) program.

What you’ll get to do: 

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • The selected candidate will join the Integrated Functional Capability (IFC) team within the System Engineering Directorate. The IFC team is responsible for coordinating the development and execution of the IFCs in accordance with the Integrated Master Schedule to support major milestone events. This role requires support of the team leads in close coordination and collaboration with the other Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) responsible for HW/SW execution to identify the system functions for an incremental delivery of a significant development program and define the specific configuration of hardware and software elements required for these functions along with the program timing.
  • You will support the evolution of multiple products beginning with an overarching Strategic IFC Plan, supporting Detailed IFC Plans, and schedules that define the development effort. You will be involved in evolving and executing the IFC plan which addresses all design components of a program (i.e., hardware and software) as well as functional activities (i.e., test, quality checks, logistics support) that support implementation into the production and operations phases of a program.
  • You will support the development effort of an IFC until it culminates in certification that the integrated set of products meets its functional and performance requirements and is ready to be released for its intended use as identified in the IFC system certificate package/certificate (e.g. ground test, flight test, developmental and/or operational test and evaluation, etc.).
  • The ideal candidate will be interested and have some experience in technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, or supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. The ideal candidate has a working understanding of and some experience in activities performed at various levels of a system product to include: design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, and maintenance.
  • The candidate should be a self-starter and capable of working under only general direction. You should be able to independently determine and develop approaches to solutions, with consultation/collaboration with you team leaders. As a candidate, you will grow your technical breadth in Systems Engineering across a broad portfolio of mission threads, and be on the forefront of evolving traditional Systems Engineering rigor into lean agile based frameworks.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80A. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Science and Engineering or a related technical discipline
  • A minimum 2 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; 0 years with a Master’s
  • U.S. Citizenship with an active Secret Security Clearance with investigation/adjudicated within the last 6 years, and ability to o obtain Special Program Access (SAP)
  • Previous systems engineering or technical project management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Agile/DevOps methodologies, practices, and tools
  • Prior Weapon System program experience
  • General understanding of Northrop Grumman Corporation Engineering Processes
  • Excellent communication, mentoring, interpersonal skills, and ability to interface with senior management, peers, and employees
  • An active DoD top secret clearance and SAP/SAR program access

Salary Range: $73,400 USD - $110,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
