We have an opening for a Power Subsystem Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in the Tactical Space organization. This position will be located in Dulles, VA.

This position is an engineer that will support power subsystem applications on space vehicles. In this role you will research, develop, design, and test electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks. You will design electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and interpret requirements and apply them to the design and development of a power architecture
  • Complete power subsystem trade studies for best application from a technical, schedule and cost
  • Complete power analyses
  • Cross-Collaborate with multiple development projects and team members to reach common solutions
  • Oversee the design and development of power avionics components
  • Support Integration and Test of power avionics at a spacecraft level
  • Support Mission Operations during launch of spacecraft

Basic Qualifications:

This position can be filled at the Sr. Principal or Principal level

Sr. Principal

  • Bachelor’s in a STEM degree (ideally Engineering) with 9 years of experience; OR a Master’s with 7 years; OR a PhD with 4 years
  • Experience in design, analyses, and/or application of power management and/or distribution electronic assemblies
  • Experience analyzing system requirements for subsystem application
  • Experience conducting power trades and analyses
  • Extensive knowledge of power architectures
  • US Citizenship with ability to obtain a Top Secret Clearance

 Principal

  • Bachelor’s in a STEM degree (ideally Engineering) with 5 years of experience; OR a Master’s with 3 years; OR a PhD
  • Experience in design, analyses, and/or application of power management and/or distribution electronic assemblies
  • Experience analyzing system requirements for subsystem application
  • Experience conducting power trades and analyses
  • Extensive knowledge of power architectures
  • US Citizenship with ability to obtain a Top Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active Top Secret clearance
  • Application of power subsystems for spaceflight application
  • Experience designing analog hardware
  • Experience integrating analog hardware at a system level
  • Experience with high voltage power systems

Salary Range: $104,600 USD - $157,000 USD
Salary Range 2: $129,700 USD - $194,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
