We have an opening for an Analog Design Manager 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in the Tactical Space organization. This position will be located in Dulles, VA.

In this role you will have ultimate responsibility for all section activities and will provide technical, operational, and functional leadership of the section while exemplifying the NG leadership characteristics (values, performance, people leadership, customer intimacy, innovation, and strategic value creation).   As the manager, you set performance standards and expectations, promote engagement and development of section members, help resolve technical as well as operational issues, and handle personnel matters such as work assignments, performance & salary review, and hiring of new section members.

This role consists of supervisory/management responsibilities for projects engaged in research and/or product development in one engineering discipline. You will ensure that all development activities utilize best approaches from advanced quality planning (APQP), Electrical and Electrical Systems Engineering, program management (PMBOK), and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) to ensure an efficient, high performing, rigorous development culture while considering the input of all internal and external customers. You will utilize your emotional intelligence to lead, coach, and direct other engineers and technicians to accomplish project deliverables and strategic objectives, drive timely decision making, and develop a highly talented team. You will also serve as a role model supporting the sector’s mission and values.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance, direction, and performance feedback to a medium/large group of engineers and technicians for daily tasking
  • Initiate continuous improvement activities to create high quality and efficient processes. Improve planning, execution, and tracking methods to increase electrical engineering process excellence. Increase the understanding and use of lessons learned
  • Manage team schedules and resources to effectively meet business goals
  • Support technology growth in innovation identification, roadmap development, and proposal preparation
  • Set and promote high standards of quality and safety. Maintain selected Electrical Engineering processes and drive technical excellence by ensuring team output meets technical standards
  • Maintain knowledge of best practices and technology innovations by attending industry events and educational activities. Serve as an independent reviewer in select product or technology areas
  • Represent and communicate NG Space technical capabilities and technologies to internal and technical meetings
  • Lead performance and compensation management activities for team members
  • Prepare, review, and approve cost estimates for written technical proposals. Manage cost and schedule for independent research or process improvement projects assigned to your team

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Engineering degree with 9 years of full-time engineering experience in an aerospace or space environment, or a Master’s degree in Engineering with 7 years’ work experience in a related field, or a PHD with 4 years’ work experience in a related field 
  • 2 years of demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience of engineering teams
  • Demonstrated acumen in coaching, supporting and motivating engineers to ensure a high performing team
  • Experience with creating and maintaining development and succession plans for team members and leading recruiting efforts to maintain team capabilities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree with 7+ years experience
  • Experience with space flight hardware design, specifically analog circuit card and component level design is preferred
  • Understanding of avionics manufacturing and testing is preferred
  • Active or current TS/SCI Clearance

Salary Range: $147,800 USD - $221,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
