The selected candidate will be a key Systems Engineering functional leader for the Space Security (SPS) and National Security Space (NSS) Business Units. The selected candidate will ensure successful program/proposal execution and consistency of systems engineering processes across a small portfolio of programs. In addition, they will be responsible for identifying NSS resource needs (people, tools, areas, support services) and working with stakeholders to address these needs. The new manager will be responsible for managing technical personnel assigned to a department with a size of approximately 25 team members. Will ensure qualified and experienced personnel (and supporting design and analysis tools and other resources) are assigned to meet the staffing needs of programs, and track and execute peer reviews for major program events. The role includes all aspects of staff management, including recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, coaching/mentoring, career development, performance management, compensation management, and separation of assigned employees.

The Manager will also be responsible for assuring program execution of selected programs, on all performance criteria (technical and cost/schedule of SE scope). This will be achieved through leadership and guidance of multiple program teams through the program life cycle, and direct impact on a program. The Manager will serve as a technical check and balance of all SE activities including new business capture planning and proposal concepts development and staffing.

In addition to the functional role, the candidate will be a working technical leader on one or more programs – the split between direct and indirect is approximately 80%/20%. Regarding program technical leader role, the candidate could be responsible for technical, cost, and schedule requirements of pre-proposal efforts, proposal development, design and development, internal/customer design reviews, technical documentation, program implementation, launch and mission operations, and disposal. The selected candidate performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk management, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors of Science Degree in Technical Field with 12 + years of experience, or Masters of Science Degree in technical field 10 + years of experience
  • Five years + experience in Systems Engineering for space, ground or mission critical applications
  • Must have U.S. Citizenship with active or current Top Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree
  • Active or current SSBI and TS/SCI clearance
  • Prior work with functional management of an engineering staff

Salary Range: $147,800 USD - $221,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
