Northrup Grumman, Space Systems Sector – Integrated Operations is looking for an experienced Lead Ground System Engineer to join the Ground System team to work with Government Customers to understand and define ground segment architectures, Ground System Trade Studies, security and infrastructure requirements for Ground Solutions by defining, adapting and deploying ground Software and communication systems required to operate the mission.
Utilize sound engineering practices to develop, implement, and maintain end-to-end Satellite ground systems. Manage the requirements, design, and implementation for ground networks and End-to-End ground systems to Support Mission Operations, RFP / Proposals, post win ground operation development. This position is located in our Dulles, VA location.
This role is a tech lead position on our Waimea Capture team, and is responsible for leading and coordinating architecture development and design activities for the ground segment, including C2, for the Waimea operational prototype (OP) and the W1 and W2 objective systems.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Lead design trades and analysis for ground segment, including C2, solutions for the Waimea OP and objective systems
Lead trades with other NG organizations to assess their ground capabilities and what Waimea can leverage Lead the ground requirements, in coordination with the Waimea SE team, for the OP to achieve SRR in Q2 2024
Lead the ground requirements, in coordination with the Waimea SE team, for the W1 and W2 objective systems to support capture activities
Lead the HW, SW, and interface design efforts for the OP to achieve PDR and CDR
Support systems level design activities and SoS design and architecture.

Basic Qualifications:
B.S. In Computer Science, Information Technology or Equivalent with 14 years of experience or MS degree and 12 years of experience
10 years experience in developing, building, or operating space systems
Must have U.S. Citizenship with a current or active Top Secret level clearance and the ability to obtain SCI level access.
2 years experience in leading, operating, or designing ground segment HW or SW for space systems, or equivalent experience
2 years experience in designing and/or building ground segment interfaces for space systems, or equivalent experience
Preferred Qualifications:
5 years experience in leading, operating, or designing ground segment HW or SW for space systems, or equivalent experience
Demonstrated experience in leading design trades and architecture analysis for ground segment HW and SW
Demonstrated experience in preparing technical briefings for customers and/or executive leadership
