Northrop Grumman is seeking motivated professionals to join our team as Senior Principal Engineer Systems.  The selected candidates will be motivated, energetic, and willing to learn. The candidate will work on a small team supporting the Defense Weapons Systems in Newport News, VA. They will support the integration of Air Force Distributed Common Ground System (AFDCGS) mission capabilities to include installation, maintenance, and sustainment. 

Daily responsibilities include:

  • Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.
  • Provide integrated support to maintain and sustain the DCGS infrastructure that supports Geographic intelligence (GEOINT), Multi-Intelligence (MULTI-INT), and Signals Intelligence (SIGINT).
  • Provide engineering services for the applications within the DCGS system.
  • Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include concept, design, test, installation, operation, and maintenance.
  • Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
  • Design, engineer, integrate, and upgrade the Open Architecture (OA) infrastructure IT stacks, provide Tier 3/4 engineering support, and manage development, integration, and testing environments to accommodate a DevSecOps construct.
  • Install, maintain, and sustain OA Enterprise Services
  • May include travel to other locations
  • Work well in a small team environment
  • Support customer needs as required

Basic Qualifications:

  • One of the following:
    • A minimum of 9 years’ experience with a bachelor’s in science in a STEM field
    • A minimum of 7 years’ experience with a master’s in science in a STEM field
    • A minimum of 4 years’ experience with PhD in a STEM field
  • Must currently possess an active DoD Top Secret Clearance
  • Must currently possess DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification or greater (e.g. Security+)
  • Willing to work flexible schedule to maintain operational capability
  • Experience administering both Windows and Unix (Linux, Solaris) operating systems
  • Familiar working with cloud technology (AWS, Azure, OpenStack, etc.)
  • Experience with containerization, including Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience working with software configuration management tools such as: Git and Jira
  • Experience with maintaining and operating a virtualization technology such as VMWare
  • Familiar with Dell/EMC server and storage hardware.
  • Experience with Agile Methodologies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior AF DCGS Experience to include military GEOINT and SIGINT domains to include U-2, Global Hawk, MQ-1 and MQ-9 sensors and processing, exploitation, and dissemination (PED) architectures
  • Knowledge of military command, control, and communication systems.
  • Experience with Dell/EMC server and storage hardware.
  • Experience working with cloud technology (AWS, Azure, OpenStack, etc.)

Salary Range: $117,900 USD - $176,900 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
