Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Space Vehicle Chief Engineer (CE) to serve as the technical leader for a Tactical Space Systems (TSD) National Security Systems (NSS) program. The Chief Engineer (CE) will lead a multi-disciplinary engineering team supporting the design, development, Integration, test, launch and mission operations of a Space Vehicle.  The CE has technical oversight for the program.

The Chief Engineer is responsible for the technical direction and execution of all aspects of engineering on a program including design, development, implementation, integration, testing, and delivery of product to the customer. The Chief Engineer is the technical leader for the program engineering team, and also serves as technical advisor to the program manager. The Chief Engineer is typically the primary technical point-of-contact to the customer. The Chief Engineer coordinates across the program’s Systems Engineering team and other engineering teams. The Chief Engineer ensures that all engineering teams adhere to sound engineering processes, in accordance with company policies, procedures, and quality standards.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline
  • 20+ Years with Bachelors in Science; 18+ Years with Masters; 15+ Years with PhD
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary technical teams
  • Experience in systems development, integration, and test 
  • Ability to effectively interface with program leadership, functional management, customers, and technical subject matter experts
  • Must have US Citizenship with active or current TS/SCI Clearance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in STEM or technical management
  • Domain expertise spacecraft and space systems

Salary Range: $171,400 USD - $207,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
