Northrop Grumman is seeking highly qualified flight test engineering leaders for a large prototype aircraft program at Edwards AFB , CA. These positions will report to the SIT&E Director of Test and will provide engineering support to the Contractor Flight Test Director at Edwards AFB

One position will provide technical leadership to three engineering section managers and their team of 60 multi-disciplined engineers who will plan and execute a first flight event and the Engineering, Manufacturing, and Development ground and flight test program that will follow.  Engineering disciplines include, but are not limited to, flight dynamics, handling qualities, aircraft subsystems, vehicle management systems, avionics, navigation, weapons, low observables, and threat system testing. 

The other position will oversee the daily operations of 150+ employees with a budget that exceeds $200M. This leader will assist the Contractor Flight Test Director in executing the vision of the organization while keeping the program on schedule and budget.

Competitive candidates will possess an extensive aviation engineering and flight test background with strong technical and leadership skills. These positions require strong communication skills to support extensive executive-level interaction. These senior managers will collaborate with government and contractor leaders to develop and execute test-planning schedules and drive an integrated team approach to problem solving. A thorough understanding of flight test safety planning, test operations, and test reporting is required. These leaders will be responsible for developing resource forecasts and achieving cost and schedule performance goals. These positions will be located at Edwards AFB , CA with an expectation of 10% travel. Candidates must be willing to work extended shifts, weekends and holidays as required to meet program schedule and objectives.

Basic Qualifications:
•    U.S. Citizenship
•    A minimum of 9 years of Engineering experience with a Bachelors degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (7 years w/ Masters)
•     Active DoD Secret clearance with full investigation within the last six years
•    Ability to obtain and maintain special program access within reasonable time
•    Minimum of 10 years of experience in flight test and aircraft operations
•    Minimum of 5 years of management experience
•    Thorough knowledge of flight test planning, safety planning, test operations, and test reporting
•    Hands-on leadership experience on a recent DoD acquisition or test program
•    Experience with Earned Value Management
•    Strong ability to communicate complex technical issues and solutions  

Preferred Qualifications:
•    Master’s Degree in an Engineering discipline
•    Program Management experience
•    Experience in a US Air Force Combined Test Force
•    Significant experience in a DoD developmental/operational flight test environment
•    Excellent leadership, motivational, and communications skills
•    Formal Flight Test training such as completion of a recognized test pilot school

Salary Range: $155,400 USD - $233,200 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
