Northrop Grumman, Strategic Space Systems Division, has an opening for a PM&P Engineer with a focus on printed wiring boards (PWBs) to join our team of highly qualified and diverse individuals. This position will be located in Manhattan Beach, California.

The engineer should have experience working on multiple tasks and have a good understanding of materials and processes, electronics manufacturing, assembly drawings, and test procedures.  The engineer must understand modern PWB technologies and be able to aid in the design of new PWBs by ensuring included features are reliable and producible.  The engineer will participate in design reviews, program reviews, failure analysis, trade studies and qualifications.  Additionally, the engineer will support the resolution of PM&P issues across the entire spacecraft design (subsystems, units, slices, CCAs).  They will formulate detailed instructions/test plans and be the lead in their execution with a proven understanding of data analysis methodologies and knowledge of design and manufacturing processes.

The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels.  This position requires a leader as well as a team player who will have significant interaction with management, and engineering personnel from other areas.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) plus 2 years of engineering experience in a materials and processes, electronics manufacturing environment; OR Master's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) plus 0 years of engineering experience in a materials and processes, electronics manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret or SCI clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)

  • Broad knowledge of EEE (Electrical/Electronic/Electro-mechanical) parts and technologies

  • Extensive knowledge of electronics manufacturing

  • Experience with qualification of parts, materials and processes for air/space applications

  • Familiarity with NASA/IPC/Military and other industry specifications

  • Active, In scope DoD Top Secret or SCI clearance


Salary Range: $77,100 USD - $115,700 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
