Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems is currently seeking a Vehicle Systems Engineer/Principal Vehicle Systems Engineer to join the team. This position will be based in Redondo Beach or Edwards AFB , CA. The successful candidate is expected to be a highly motivated self-starter that has an interest in systems engineering, weapons integration, and flight testing of aircraft. The position requires technical knowledge of Stores Management System (SMS) / Suspension and Release Equipment (S&RE)-related hardware and software, including MIL-STD-1553, MIL-STD-1760, etc., for the ability to carry and employ weapons. Other responsibilities encompass performing a variety of duties supporting flight test activities, data gathering, data analysis, and writing technical reports. Candidate must be able to work from engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions. Works with Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to complete tasks related to design, production, and sustainment. Independently determines and develops approaches to solutions. Candidates need to be self-motivated and able to work collaboratively with internal teams and external customers in high-tempo environments.

Specific tasks performed in this role may include: integrated systems evaluation, assisting with or leading F-35 flight-test data analysis/troubleshooting and report generation; assisting in Sustainment activities of production aircraft by providing remote or on-site support to deployed squadrons in troubleshooting weapon-system issues, as well as performing weapon-system checkouts and updating procedures; assisting in follow-on development system-integration activities such as participating in software requirements development, test plan development, and preparation for flight-test execution/control room monitoring.  Some travel may be required.

Basic Qualifications (Vehicle Systems Engineer):

• STEM Bachelor's degree with 2 or more years of engineering experience; or a STEM Master's degree with 0 or more years of experience.
• At least 1 year of professional engineering experience within the Aerospace Industry required
• Active DoD Secret Clearance is required
• Ability to obtain and maintain program special access clearance is required prior to a start date being determined
• Must be willing and able to travel up to 75% to various locations

Basic Qualifications (Principal Vehicle Systems Engineer):

• STEM Bachelor's degree with 5 or more years of engineering experience; or a STEM Master's degree with 3 or more years of experience; or a STEM PhD degree with 1 or more years of experience
• At least 1 year of professional engineering experience within the Aerospace Industry required
• Active DoD Secret Clearance is required
• Ability to obtain and maintain program special access clearance is required prior to a start date being determined
• Must be willing and able to travel up to 75% to various locations

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.
• Prior experience with Flight Test activities, Integrated Systems Evaluations, or Weapons Integration – Physical and/or Functional
• CATIA V5 proficiency with ability to conduct envelope and clearance analyses
• Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing

Salary Range: $85,000 USD - $127,400 USD

Salary Range 2: $104,600 USD - $157,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
