Northrop Grumman Strategic Space Systems Division (SSSD) has an opening for a Sr. Principal Photovoltaic (PV) Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in the Vehicle Products Center. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA.
 

The Sr. Principal Photovoltaic (PV) Engineer's responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Produce photovoltaic array electrical design-related engineering drawings and specifications
  • Planning and execution of design, analysis, test, and qualification and may include mechanical solar array structures
  • Provide status, problem resolution plans and provide input as an Integrated Process Team (IPT) member to a complete solar array mechanical/electrical design and production efforts
  • Support weekly subcontract telecoms, review in-process data, attend Manufacturing Readiness Reviews (MRRs) and Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs), review test data and support pre-shipment readiness review meeting
  • Develop cost estimates and track efforts to these estimates
     

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university with 9 years of engineering experience OR Master’s Degree in STEM with 7 years of engineering experience OR Ph.D. in STEM with 4 years of engineering experience
  • Must have a working knowledge of solar cells and experience with solar cell electrical testing
  • Must be able and willing to obtain and maintain an SCI access
     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience in mechanical/electrical troubleshooting of components and equipment
  • Active SCI access
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with procurement of aerospace hardware design and/or development of components
  • Technical writing experience for test procedures and technical documentation
  • Understanding of mechanical and electrical drawings including electrical schematics and assembly drawing
  • Working and programming knowledge with LabView
  • Self-motivated, work with minimal supervision and excellent communication skills
  • Has demonstrated multidisciplinary skills and ability to work with manufacturing and other engineering disciplines
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project

Salary Range: $129,700 USD - $194,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
