Northrop Grumman Payload & Ground Systems is seeking experienced Systems Engineers for Ground Element (GE) AMP program. The positions are located at our office in Redondo Beach, CA.

What you’ll get to do?

As a Systems Engineer, you would be responsible for performing customer requirements elicitation leading to Human Computer Interaction (HCI) and User Experience (UX) design products, Requirements Development, Management and Verification (RDMV) activities, support system level trade studies.

Specific tasks include definition of high-level functional and performance HCI wireframe, UX conops, requirements and verification methods, subsequent analysis, decomposition, and derivation of requirements, allocation of those lower-level requirements to physical and functional architectural elements, and tracking them through design, verification, integration, and operational validation. The systems engineer, will coordinate and collaborate with diverse engineering design teams to assist in managing the technical baseline. Duties must be performed at a high level with only general supervision and direction. Candidate's performance directly impacts program success.

Basic Qualifications:

  • (level 2) Bachelor's degree in STEM with 3 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree in STEM with 0 years of relevant experience
  • (level 3) Bachelor's degree in STEM with 5 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree in STEM with 2 years of relevant experience
  • SCI/Secret-level security clearance and ability to obtain Top Secret clearance
  • Experience with requirement decomposition, allocation, and verification
  • Demonstrated communication skills and flexibility, and proficiency in MS Office.
  • Experience using methodologies such as SAFe, Agile, Lean UX.
  • Experience with following, building and maintaining a style guide and design system.
  • Experience with UX prototyping and design applications such as Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.
  • Experience using user data research to inform present design decisions.
  • Demonstrate ability to conform and adhere designs to Style Guide parameters and guidelines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Linux Architecture (both Linux Command Line and OS Architecture)
  • UX principles for desktop applications
  • Ability to describe/depict process flow given the UI
  • Familiarity with formal reqt verification events
  • Direct experience using the DOORS Requirements Management Database; familiarity with Model- Driven Systems Engineering languages (SysML /UML) and concepts and CORE knowledge a plus
  • The ideal candidate will have excellent technical writing skills, and team building skills.
  • Present solutions to stakeholders, Business Owners, and Subject Matter Experts .
  • Interpret business needs into effective visual communication tools.
  • Solve complex business problems through design UX development phases.
  • Translate research artifacts into effective communication tools.
  • Ability to turn over rapid design ideations and develop behavioral human-centered prototypes, user flows, final design assets, high-fidelity mock-ups, and lightweight design specifications.
  • Ensure that the design vision is carried through accurately during the development process.
  • Engage and communicate across various disciplines, agile teams, and projects.

Salary Range: $85,000 USD - $127,400 USD
Salary Range 2: $104,600 USD - $157,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
