Strategic Space Systems Division, Operations organization is looking for a Technical Operations Manager 3 to join our team.  This position will be located in Redondo Beach, California.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Support integration of strategic activities and organization initiatives for executive level review and briefings

  • Support operations reviews internally, at the Division level and on programs to ensure successful operations execution via metrics, identification and tracking of issues and risks.

  • Support and lead hiring & staffing initiatives for both UR&R and experienced employees to ensure common processes & tool usage and integrate & analyze data as needed to support performance tracking and reporting.

  • Support and lead initiatives as needed, including but not limited to

    • Gathering, integrating, synthesizing, and reporting on data and other operations metrics

    • Managing employee development and engagement activities and resources including STEM outreach

    • Site, facilities & infrastructure efforts

    • Communications to Division/Sector Leadership and to the broader operations population

  • Ensure utilization and maintenance of common tools and processes for functional homeroom.

Under the direction of the Director, Operations Deputy, the Technical Operations Manager 3 serves as a capability to run the "business of operations" within the division, aligned to division goals and success.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead an organization consisting of Business Systems Integration, Data Analytics, and Industrial Engineering with a total staff of approximately 60 members.

  • Improve the systems to data to solutions value stream across the three organizations.

  • Lead the team in developing innovative solutions to optimize business process execution, enable data visualization for business decision making and improve process efficiency across the division.

  • Provide guidance and oversight to employees to drive innovation and complete key deliverables.

  • Lead the team in improving business process execution, developing new system and data solutions, and correcting system deficiencies.

  • Develop and manage project plans/schedules and execute to budget.

  • Strategize the effective data solutions with the data analytics and digital transformation teams.

  • Collaborate and communicate with internal customers across the division, from working level to executives.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with nine years of experience or Master's + 7 years of exp; Ph.D. + 4 years of experience

  • Must have U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret/SCI level clearance.

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited institution with 9 years of Engineering or Operations experience or Master's + 7 years of exp; PhD + 4 years of experience

  • Experience and knowledge of NG Space Sector / Strategic Space Systems Division

  • Must have U.S. Citizenship with a current or active DoD Top Secret/SCI level clearance.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Experience with leading or supporting engineering and / or operations projects and teams.

  • Proven ability to produce reliable metrics and drive performance.

  • Experience with communicating up to the executive level via verbal, written reports and briefings.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

This position reports to Redondo Beach, CA, USA, however, this position can also be worked from Manhattan Beach, CA, CA, USA.


Salary Range: $160,200 USD - $240,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
