Job Description

Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Senior Level Radar Engineer to support the Mission Modes and Algorithm Development Team (MMADT) on the Deep- Space Advanced Radar Capability (DARC) program in Colorado Springs, CO. The DARC program is designing and fielding a ground-based radar that will significantly enhance US Space Domain awareness in the geosynchronous orbital environment. The MMADT on DARC will be developing algorithms for the radar, prototyping SW for the radar, performing analysis on the algorithm and SW, and supporting engineering in developing a Digital Twin of the DARC system.

Basic Qualifications (BQ’s): 

  • Senior Principal Radar Engineer: Bachelors in Science in a STEM discipline with 14 years of relevant experience, Masters degree with 12 years, or a PhD with 9 years

  • Active Secret Clearance and ability to obtain a Top Secret

  • Experience with Systems Engineering

  • Basic knowledge of the principles of Radar

  • Experience with system modeling, simulation, and performance analysis with MATLAB, Python, C/C++ or similar languages;

  • willingness to learn, as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Radar waveforms and digital signal processing (DSP) methods

  • Radar imaging and processing techniques

  • Principles of object detection, tracking, classification and related algorithms

  • Algorithm development and testing

  • High Performance Computing /Parallelization techniques

  • Active Top Secret Clearance

This position reports to Colorado Springs, CO, USA, however, this position can also be worked from Colorado Springs, CO, CO, USA.


Salary Range: $114,300 USD - $171,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
