Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a MRB/Liaison Engineering Manager 2 (Section Manager) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This leadership position will be located in Melbourne, Florida.

The successful candidate will manage the functional engineering activities of approximately ten Liaison Engineers and is responsible for design product integrity, process adherence, staffing, training, and tools. This is a hands-on manager role with approximately 80% liaison engineering responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical oversight, participation in the performance review process, management of personnel records and participation in corrective or disciplinary actions

  • Staffing responsibilities may include hiring, reduction in force actions, recruiting of personnel and working to ensure that liaison engineers with the appropriate skills and experience are deployed

  • Manages training opportunities and budget allocations, as well as participation in tool, process, and metric initiatives

  • Team engagement is a key focus

  • Mentors, provides career guidance and coachings, and leads others

  • In addition to managing the team the candidate will be responsible for fulfilling a liaison engineering statement of work which may include participation in the material review board, corrective action investigations, participating in design reviews, creating engineering drawing changes utilizing NX and Teamcenter software

  • Travels to supplier sites

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant STEM discipline and 9 years of related professional/military engineering experience; OR Master’s degree in a relevant STEM discipline and 7 years of related professional/military engineering experience

  • Background in aircraft production

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering

  • Active, in-scope DoD Secret clearance (or higher)

  • Proven history of leadership

  • Proficiency with NX and Teamcenter software

  • NGAS Material Review Board EN Signature

  • Experience reviewing supplier work

  • Experience interfacing with a DoD customer

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to collaborate within a team and across team environments

  • Ability to prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish the project result

  • Ability to comprehend and analyze complex problems and develop solutions

  • Ability to lead an engineering or cross-functional team

  • Prior MRB signature authority or experience


Salary Range: $112,700 USD - $169,100 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
