We are looking for you to join our team as a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer/Lead based out of Rolling Meadows, IL. As a Systems Engineering Lead at Northrop Grumman you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation. Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is seeking Systems Engineering, Integration and Test (SEIT) program leads at our Rolling Meadows / Arlington Heights, IL location.  The selected candidates will report to the SEIT Department in the Infrared Countermeasures (IRCM) Department.

What You’ll get to Do:

  • Oversee the daily engineering activities of the program engineering team ensuring adherence to the integrated master schedule. Particular emphasis on systems engineering and integration and test is required
  • Manage multi-disciplinary Integrated Program Teams
  • Function as the primary technical interface to customer technical teams
  • Plan new programs through creation of a work breakdown structure and associated budgets driving a solid systems engineering process from start to finish
  • Help establish the Control Account Management (CAM) structure for engineering. Includes CAM responsibilities for the SEIT lead
  • Manage earned value on a periodic basis as determined for that program
  • Support the program manager in planning and executing the program on a weekly basis
  • Familiarity with other disciplines (software, hardware, modeling and simulation) considered a plus
  • Experience with DOORS, Model Based System Engineering creations of system and sub-system level specifications, systems engineering management plans a plus

Basic Qualifications for a Systems Engineering Lead:

  • BS degree in Software or Hardware Engineering, or related technical degree with 9+ years of related experience or MS degree in Software or Hardware Engineering, or related technical degree with 7+ years related experience
  • Strong track record of managing and executing technical development programs on schedule and within budget
  • Strong understanding of other related disciplines in Engineering working in an integrated product team (IPT) environment
  • Solid systems engineering approach with demonstrated proficiency in analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Good working knowledge of and experience in systems integration, test and qualification
  • Must be able to obtain Interim Secret Clearance prior to start. Once started, must be able to obtain and maintain Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of one of more of the following specialty areas for integration and test related to EOIR systems, optics, detection and tracking
  • Airborne threat detection and defeat or related experience with IR sensing systems
  • Experience in development and earned value management of cost accounts and schedules as related to Systems Engineering tasks
  • Experience with Model Based Engineering (MBE) concepts and tools (Rhapsody)
  • Working knowledge of DOORS and ClearCase/ClearQuest
  • Agile development experience a plus
  • Ability and willingness to travel 25%
  • Active Top Secret Clearance is preferred

Salary Range: $123,800 USD - $185,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
