Field Engineer or Principal Field Engineer

Northrop Grumman has an immediate opportunity for a Field Engineer or a Principal Field Engineer. What You’ll get to Do:
 

Installs, operates, maintains, repairs and modifies equipment. Performs a variety of maintenance and technical support on products such as equipment, integrated systems and subsystems, and software at customer and/or field locations. Analyzes and evaluates products and related performance. Troubleshoots and diagnoses malfunctions to eliminate problem in minimum time. Installs, upgrades and removes products ensuring coordinative engineering field change. Maintains effective customer communications and relations. May provide onsite training of customer support personnel. work remotely close to customer sites. The Field Engineer or Principal Field Engineer will primarily work from the Rolling Meadows area but will be expected to travel to other customer sites as required (post DoD SkillBridge Program Participation). (Minimal OCONUS travel possible)

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Troubleshoot AN/AAQ-28 LITENING pod hardware/software issues
• Perform hardware/software upgrades, supporting flight tests, monitoring and engaging with the customer support line
• Provide onsite training of customer support personnel
• Coordinating maintenance and training activities with squadron operations and maintenance staff
• Other duties include but are not limited to, supporting any engineering investigations and product improvement activities, preparing test reports and summary reports, and creation of procedures.
• Will be expected to work alone at a field site but within a team structure consisting of members located at other sites.
• Travel to other customer sites as necessary (typically 5-7 days, but occasionally up to 16 days).
• Think critically to resolve problems.
• Effectively communicate and utilize good organizational skills to manage hardware in the field and maintain good customer relations.

Basic Qualifications for Field Engineer:

• BS Degree and a minimum of 2 years experience. An additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Basic knowledge of EO/IR fundamentals
• Experience with military flightline operations, support systems and maintenance
• Effective verbal and written communication, and ability to work in a team environment
• Ability and willingness to travel to customer locations that include business trips and short term travel to customer facilities at CONUS locations and occasional OCONUS locations. (Up to 75% travel may be required)
• Must have a minimum of an active interim Secret Clearance. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance if selected.

• BS Degree and a minimum of 5 years experience . An additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Basic knowledge of EO/IR fundamentals
• Experience with military flightline operations, support systems and maintenance
• Effective verbal and written communication, and ability to work in a team environment
• Ability and willingness to travel to customer locations that include business trips and short term travel to customer facilities at CONUS locations and occasional OCONUS locations. (Up to 75% travel may be required

Preferred Qualifications:

• Active Secret clearance obtained or investigated within the last 5 years
• Knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems
• Knowledge of military logistical systems
• Experience in troubleshooting and maintenance of military EO/IR systems and avionics
• Experience with test and evaluation process
• Experience with testing of software applications

Salary Range: $67,000 USD - $100,400 USD

Salary Range 2: $82,400 USD - $123,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
