Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Mechanical-Structural Analysis Engineer, Principal to join our Structures Analysis team within the Hardware Engineering Organization.  Our work includes, but is not limited to Airborne Multifunctional Sensors such as Active Electronically Scanned Array Radars:  https://www.northropgrumman.com/what-we-do/air/active-electronically-scanned-array-aesa-radars/

Duties and Responsibilities may Include:

  • Performing structural analysis on aerospace, shipboard, ground based, and space radar systems and structures. 
  • Loads development, stress analysis (static and fatigue), and vibration analysis of metallic and composite structures. 
  • Performing classical structural analysis, as well as, finite element analysis is essential. Utilizing excellent written and verbal communication skills are important for clear communication of results through reports and presentations. 
  • Collaborate in a team environment, mentor less experienced personnel, prioritize and organize tasks to support program milestones.

This is a Dual level position and candidates will be considered at both T03 and T04 levels based on the requirements listed below:

T03 Principal Engineer:
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or similar degree with 5 years of related experience. Master's degree with 3 years' experience, or PhD and 0 years of experience.

T04 Senior Principal Engineer:

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or similar degree with 9 years of related experience. Master's degree with 7 years' experience, or PhD and 4 years of experience.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil Engineering or related technical field
  • Experience with classical structural and finite element analysis
  • Software experience: Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience developing Finite Element Models (FEM) from CAD geometry
  • U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance per business requirements
     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Active Secret/Top Secret/SCI clearance.
  • Software experience: NX.CAE (SimCenter 3D) / NX.Nastran, Ansys Mechanical, or MSC Patran
  • Experience with DOD and/or FAA program structural load environmental requirements.
  • Previous MRB Experience/ Authority

Salary Range: $95,100 USD - $142,700 USD
Salary Range 2: $123,800 USD - $185,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
