Northrop Grumman Mission Systems sector is seeking a Senior level ECAD Design Engineer to join our team. Our main facilities are in Linthicum - just outside of Baltimore, Maryland. But, 100% remote will be considered.

Local at Linthicum, MD, or 100% remote will be considered

Responsibilities:

  • Work at a senior ECAD Designer level, utilizing tools such as Mentor Graphic Tools, primarily Expedition/DXD VX versions.
  • Develop PCB layouts and supporting documentation according to customer and internal requirements such as designing for Electrical Functionality, EMC, Manufacturing, Reliability, and Cost.
  • Lead and/or support PCB(A) DFM/DFA activities in collaboration with Electrical, Mechanical and Manufacturing engineering.
  • Lead and/or support development of PCB Layout standards, best practices, and guidelines in accordance with industry standards and internal requirements.
  • Perform work assignments as a highly competent ECAD designer, requiring independent design and release effort in collaboration with other disciplines.
  • Work assignments primarily involve intermediate through advanced level work, moving toward complete technical competency and mastery of the field
  • Design and development of PCB layout while adhering to electrical, mechanical, EMC, manufacturing and cost requirements.
  • Support PCB layout design reviews (Electrical, EMC, Manufacturing, etc)
  • Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.

Note:

The position can be filled at a T3 Principal Engineer or a T4, Sr. Principal level.

T3 Principal Engineer

B.S. Degree with a minimum of 5 years practical work experience, or

M.S. Degree with a minimum of 3 years practical work experience, or

Ph.D. Degree with a minimum of 0 years practical work experience
 

T4 Sr. Principal Engineer

B.S. Degree with a minimum of 9 years practical work experience, or

M.S. Degree with a minimum of 7 years practical work experience, or

Ph.D. Degree with a minimum of 4 years practical work experience

Basic Qualifications:

  • Degree in a S.T.E.M. related field with the required years of experience. 20 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Senior ECAD Designer, proficient with Mentor Graphic Tools, primarily Expedition/DXD VX versions.
  • Designer to be experienced with multiple PCB product types
  • Designer to be experienced with Ridged and Flex PCB product types, especially: Complex High-Speed Digital/HDI designs/ Serdes/Memory/ Latest DDR disciplines routing schemes/blind and buried vias.
  • Experienced and very proficient with CES and DRC use and interpretations. Candidate to also be proficient with the use of Valor fabrication checks, DFM reports and outputs.
  • Proficient with "PCB part placement and routing flow" is also required for dense/multi-layer/composite designs.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance. Clearance not required to start
     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to Mentor and/or manage other ECAD Designers per manager's direction. 
  • Assist Engineering regarding the more refined and precise techniques used with PCB layout and routing.

This position reports to Baltimore, MD, USA, however, you are able to work from any of the additional 10 locations listed above.


Salary Range: $90,600 USD - $136,000 USD
Salary Range 2: $123,000 USD - $168,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
