Northrop Grumman Defense Systems sector is seeking two Principal Software / Software Developers. This position will be located in Hollywood, MD or Camarillo, CA. The selected candidate will design, develop, document, test and debug applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions. 

Responsibilities Include:

  • Design, develop, document, test and debug applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions.
  • Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborates with UX/UI designers and software architects in the planning, design, development of mission planning software
  • Backend development using C#, Java, REST/GraphQL APIs, and containerization.
  • Front end development using React, Javascript.
  • Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment pipeline using Jenkins shared library, Groovy script, python, bash and Powershell scripting.
  • Attend daily stand ups and assists members of Agile scrum team to meet sprint and quarterly goals.
  • Ensure software standards are met.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 2-5 Years with Bachelors in STEM; 0-3 Years with Masters

  • Experience with DevSecOps pipeline tools and concepts such as Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment, Quality gate, Jenkins, and Docker
  • Experience with Agile tools such as Jira, Git
  • 2+ years of work experience with Python
  • Proficient in bash and powershell scripting
  • Understanding of software design principles, functional programming and Object-Oriented programming paradigms
  • Strong communication skills and able to work effectively with physically disperse/remote team members of various levels
  • Ability to work on-site at customer labs
  • Current DoD Secret Clearance or above

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong skills in various software development skills in an Agile environment including design and architecture, implementation, optimization, automated testing, and documentation
  • Professional experience with Web Development and Microservices
  • Professional experience with Jenkins shared library using Groovy scripting language
  • Professional experience with Docker, Helm and Kubernetes
  • Professional experience with SonarQube, Twistlock, Fortify
  • SAFe certified and experience working in a SAFe framework preferred
  • Previous in-depth mission planning domain knowledge of program software design and code preferred

This position reports to Hollywood, MD, USA, however, this position can also be worked from Camarillo, CA, CA, USA.


Salary Range: $82,400 USD - $123,600 USD
Salary Range 2: $101,400 USD - $152,200 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
