AOA Xinetics (AOX), a wholly owned Northrop Grumman Space Systems, Payload and Ground Systems Division Business Unit, is a leading supplier of complex electro-optic and photonic systems and subsystems that control and manipulate light waves for a variety of applications. We are seeking a Principal Equipment Engineer to support our Manufacturing Operations in our Devens, MA facility.

Overview

AOX is committed to the rapid development, manufacture and delivery of leading-edge deformable mirror and commercial products, utilizing advances in ceramic materials, technology and processing to meet or exceed customer expectations. The Equipment Engineer will provide manufacturing technical expertise and direction to specify, procure, qualify, and maintain cutting edge processing equipment.

The successful candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills; be able to multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic, and high visibility environment; and work well as part of a team. They must also be a self- starter who is able to work independently or in small teams using schematics, diagrams, and written and verbal descriptions. Excellent prioritization, planning and documentation skills are required.

Role and responsibilities:

  • Interact, support and collaborate with manufacturing engineering and production organizations in providing world-class metrics on state of the art manufacturing equipment

  • Apply complex knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures to expedite troubleshooting and repair of complex industrial equipment with integrated electronic, hydraulic, robotics, and pneumatics systems

  • Communicate maintenance and repair efforts to management and cross functional groups in a customer facing capacity on a regular basis

  • Take ownership in providing support and leadership for maintenance and repair events at a project management level

  • Develop work instructions for recurring repairs and processes

  • Support capital equipment projects as needed

  • Work with Manufacturing Engineering SME’s to develop a Predictive and Preventive Maintenance Program for a variety of production assets ensuring reliability checks are made

  • Ensure all applicable documents, drawings and instructions are available for machine evaluation, troubleshooting and repair

  • Develop and maintain performance metrics, i.e., machine uptime, predictive, and OEE

  • Own, repair, and gain a solid understanding of complex machine system functions, controls and kinematics through prior experience, or manufacturer trainings to maintain operating metrics to world class levels

Basic Qualifications for Principal level:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field with 5+ years of relevant experience. An additional 4 years’ experience may be considered in lieu of a degree

  • Extensive experience in a manufacturing environment, working with industrial manufacturing machinery, and production equipment

  • Advanced MS Office software applications

Basic Qualifications for Senior Principal level:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field with 9+ years of relevant experience. An additional 4 years’ experience may be considered in lieu of a degree

  • Extensive experience in a manufacturing environment working with industrial manufacturing machinery, production and test related equipment

  • Advanced MS Office software application

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering or related STEM field

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment used in the semiconductor industry

  • Troubleshooting experience PLC Logic (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, GE)

  • Thorough knowledge of electrical schematics and technical drawings

  • Prior experience as a maintenance or service technician on industrial, automated and/ or manufacturing equipment

  • Electronics experience in a manufacturing, assembly and/ or troubleshooting capacity

Salary Range: $95,000 USD - $142,400 USD
Salary Range 2: $117,700 USD - $176,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
