Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for an Air Vehicle Manager (AVM) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Test and Evaluation organization. This leadership role is located in Grand Sky, ND.

The AVM is responsible for the planning, operations, modification and maintenance of RQ-4B, Block 20 and Block 30 aircraft in support of TRMC activities.  This will include leading an organization of Test Managers, Test Conductors, Test Directors, and Ground Support Equipment / Flight Test Technicians.  The position requires technical knowledge of various aircraft systems, design, development, implementation, and testing with a strong foundation in aircraft modification and ground operations.  The selected candidate must act with speed, guide others in producing quality work, be self-motivated, and have the ability to communicate complex technical issues and solutions.  A successful track record of program performance, interpersonal team building skills, and leadership experience is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overall responsibility for the configuration and modification of the RQ-4B TRMC fleet to support mission and program objectives

  • Coordinating with functional homeroom, program Integrated Product Teams (IPT), and site leadership, providing timely resource forecasts to ensure proper staffing is in place to execute the Statement of Work (SOW)

  • Drive process rigor, ensuring compliance to meet company, program, and security requirements

  • Managing cost, schedule, and technical performance of aircraft modification and ground operations activities

  • Drive quick issue resolution during maintenance and modification to ensure on-time completion

  • Execute liaison role between Test, Engineering, and Maintenance to ensure quick communication of technical issues

  • Coordinates aircraft availability to maximize test flights and ground integration time

  • Provides Real-Time aircraft prioritization during integration and pre / post-flight activities

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline and 9 years of related professional / military experience, or a master’s degree and 7 years of related professional / military experience.

  • Must have prior management / leadership experience that includes oversight of engineering projects or program activities

  • Must have an active DOD Secret clearance within a reasonable time as dictated by the program

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active DOD Top Secret clearance

  • Working knowledge of the RQ-4B Unmanned Aircraft System

  • Aircraft modification and airworthiness experience


Salary Range: $138,400 USD - $207,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
