We are seeking an experienced Digital Signal Processing Engineer to join our team at our Cincinnati, Ohio location. DSP Engineers work on sensor, communication, and electronic warfare programs solving our customer’s most difficult technical challenges. You will work as part of a team to design and build low power custom electronics across a range of microwave frequency bands.

The Cincinnati location (a.k.a. Xetron) is part of Northrop Grumman’s Mission Systems sector and works with various government organizations designing and building custom

hardware and software solutions. We are mission focused pushing the boundaries of possible across land, sea, air, space, and cyberspace. Our programs require an innovative approach from Engineers to design a solution that meets performance, power, and size requirements.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement custom signal processing algorithms
  • Research advancements in technology to provide cutting-edge solutions
  • Design and test algorithms using MATLAB, C, and other languages.
  • Analyze and optimize system performance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members to ensure program success
  • Work with other engineers to analyze complex problems and provide unique solutions

This requisition may be filled at either a Principal Level or a Sr. Principal Level.

Principal Engineer Level:
  • A bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or similar with 4+ years of relevant experience
  • OR Master’s Degree and 2+ years of experience
  • Proficient with MATLAB, C, or Octave
  • Knowledge of signal processing techniques and technologies
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance
Senior Principal Engineer
  • A bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or similar with 8+ years of relevant experience
  • OR Master’s Degree and 6+ years of experience
  • Proficient with MATLAB, C, or Octave
  • Advanced knowledge of signal processing techniques and technologies
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active Top Secret security clearance with SCI
  • Proficient in C/C++, embedded SW design in Linux
  • Experience with wireless digital communication systems, in particular modern digital modulation techniques and modem design
  • Experience with RADAR and EW signal processing algorithms
  • Experience with RF receiver development, including system link budget and sensitivity analysis, ADC and receiver noise analysis, and baseband conversion and processing
  • Digital design experience and FPGA development experience in VHDL, is a plus
  • Experience with X-Midas, GNU Radio or software-defined radios

  • The 9/80 Schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off
  • This is an on-site position however there may be opportunities for occasional remote work

Salary Range: $104,700 USD - $157,100 USD
Salary Range 2: $129,800 USD - $194,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
