Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking to hire a Ground Test Integration and Checkout Engineering Manager 2 to its team of diverse and qualified individuals. These positions will be located in Promontory, Utah and will support the Sentinel (GBSD) program. Learn more about the Sentinel program here.  Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and associated infrastructure.

What you will get to do:

The selected candidate will join the System Test Team to provide leadership for our system-level missile Integration, Assembly, Test, and Checkout (IATC) teams at our Strategic Missile Test and Production Complex (SMTPC). This position is primarily located in Promontory, UT operating out of the Strategic Missile Test and Production Complex.

As the SMTPC Integration and Test Manager, you will report to the STT Ground Test Manager and manage a team of IATC Team supervisors and highly skilled technicians to meet quality requirements and achieve on-time delivery for the GBSD testing program.


  • Synthesize customer contractual needs and requirements into system test solutions that acknowledges technical, schedule and cost constraints
  • Develop and direct preparation and execution of comprehensive test, test plans, procedures and schedules for completing systems
  • Support all phases of the systems lifecycle including concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal
  • Maintain design documentation and follow configuration management requirements
  • Create technical reports and present test and analysis results
  • Coordinate integrated testing activities working in a dynamic people-focused environment
  • Review and evaluate test requirements to ensure completeness and compliance of the test program
  • Perform technical analysis of complete systems and prepare comprehensive system level evaluations
  • Direct oversight of integration and test teams, serve as a functional homeroom manager responsible for employee development, engagement, and retention.
  • Responsible for product integration, regression, and verification/validation testing

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

  • Bachelor’s Degree and at least 6 years of related experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience in test planning or test execution
  • At least 1 year experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule
  • Active Secret clearance investigated within the last 5 years with the ability to obtain special access.


  • US Citizenship with an Active/Current DoD Top Secret or Interim Top-Secret Clearance
  • Prior Experience or knowledge of ICBM test methodologies
  • Demonstrated ability working with cross-functional teams and customers
  • Demonstrated success leading teams/and or organizations to achieve a common goal
  • Thorough knowledge of ICBM Test and Integration processes and operational procedures at Vandenberg AFB as well as other Air Force installations
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills to improve process flow and standardization of processes.
  • Successful history of managing personnel in high energy assignments while promoting a safe and productive environment

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
