Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Propulsion Systems is currently seeking a Principal/Sr. Principal Electrical/Software Engineer to join our team supporting several locations within the Flight Systems with home location at the Promontory (Brigham), UT facility. Will consider candidates for our Kennedy Space Center, FL or Marshall Space Fight Center in Huntsville, AL if you are local to that area.

Description:

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer with a Software Background to join our team at Northrop Grumman. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the requirements development, design oversight, requirement verification, and schedule coordination of Avionics Subsystem components for the Space Launch System Boosters. As a member of the Northrop Grumman team, you will work with a diverse group of engineers and technicians to help us reach our goals of exploring space and advancing scientific research.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Develop requirements for the Space Launch System Boosters Avionics Subsystem

  • Oversee the design of electrical systems for the Boosters

  • Verify that the requirements are being met throughout the design and testing phases

  • Coordinate schedules with other teams to ensure that the project stays on track

  • Collaborate with other engineers and technicians to troubleshoot and solve problems as they arise

  • Review and approve technical documentation related to the Booster Avionics

  • Participate in design reviews and other team meetings

  • Ensure that all work is conducted in accordance with Northrop Grumman's safety and quality standards

  • Identify and mitigate technical risks associated with the project

  • Mentor junior engineers as needed

Basic Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field and a minimum of 3 years’ experience with a focus on FPGA and software development and design

  • Good written and oral communication skills

  • U.S Citizen

Education:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering and 5 years, MS and 3 years or Ph.D. and 0 years of experience

  • Position can be filled one level higher, BS in Electrical Engineering and 9 years, MS and 7 years or Ph.D. and 4 years of experience.

Salary Range: $90,400 USD - $136,500 USD
Salary Range 2: $112,000 USD - $168,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
