Northrop Grumman, Space Systems, is currently seeking Principal Process Controls / Software Engineer to support our Process Engineering team at our Promontory Utah facility.

The selected candidate will support the Ammonium Perchlorate (AP), Case, Case Prep, Mix/Cast, Motor Assembly, Nozzle, or Rocket Value Streams.

Role Description & Responsibilities:

  • Design & support software solutions for manufacturing processes

  • Ensure compliance with cyber security requirements governed by DOD and NIST

  • Developing and improving manufacturing processes

  • Performing cause and corrective action activities to permanently eliminate defects

  • Using software skills improve existing processes implementing Digital Transformation techniques

  • Follow company software development lifecycle to design, code, configure, test, debug, and document system and application programs

  • Develop SPC tools for process control

  • Create high level software solutions to interface with machine level control

Experience Requirements:  

  • Candidate with 5-9 years of Controls / Software Engineering experience

  • Position may be filled at a higher level requiring 9-14 years of Controls / Software Engineering experience

Education/Certifications

  • B.S. degree in Computer Science, Electrical, Automated Systems, or related Engineering (other technical degrees may be considered)

Skills & Qualifications

  • Self-Starter that takes initiative to complete tasks and assignments with minimal supervision

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and strong oral and written communication skills

  • Capable of using flow charts to program

  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing Techniques is a plus

  • Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Strong inter-personal and Customer Service Skills

  • Intelligent and curious – ready to learn and grow in an exciting field

  • Proficiency in one or more of the following languages

    • ThingWorx (Javascript)

    • LabView

    • Python

    • C#

    • Web technologies (HTML/CSS)

    • Allen Bradley Logix 5000 / Studio


Salary Range: $90,400 USD - $135,600 USD
Salary Range 2: $112,000 USD - $168,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
