Northrop Grumman’s Space Systems sector is looking for a Deputy Chief Engineer for Infrastructure, Deployment, & Integration supporting Command and Launch team for the Office of the Chief Engineer in our SDS Division. This leadership role is located in Roy, Utah. Learn more about the Sentinel (GBSD) program here. Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and associated infrastructure.

What You’ll Get To Do: 

Be a Deputy Chief Engineer for the Command and Launch segment, reporting to the Office of the Chief Engineer. Responsibilities include technical leadership by:

• Providing technical leadership in Infrastructure, Deployment, and Integration activities

• Driving technical execution in support of major program events

• Collaborating within the Office of the Chief Engineer to deliver exceptional customer value

• Focusing horizontally on resolving high-level Systems challenges

• Driving technical execution with an emphasis on infrastructure and deployment

• Ensuring execution of overall technical plan within the Integrated Master Schedule

• Supporting strategic SDS Division initiatives on tools, processes, and cross-segment technical reviews

• Driving technical rigor into technical interchange meetings with Sentinel partners

• Utilizing Model-Based Engineering to deliver a highly sustainable Weapon System

• Advising program technical leadership on program, schedule, and technical matters

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.  

 

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) with at least 14 years of progressive engineering experience; Master’s and 12 years’ of experience; or 9 years experience with a PhD.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience formally leading engineering teams/and or organizations to achieve a common goal.

• Active DoD Secret clearance, investigation must have been completed within last 5 years

 

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

• ICBM ground system, command and control, communication, or complex aerospace systems experience

• Experience integrating multiple engineering specialties and stakeholders across multiple Integrated Product Teams

• Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience

• Design Engineering/Computer-aided Design (CAD) experience and engineering releases utilizing Product Lifecycle Management tools

• Prior experience interfacing with prime contractor site leads and USAF leadership personnel

• Active DoD TS/SCI clearance

• Experience leading the performance of tasks on schedule, at cost and achieving all requirements as either project lead, integrated program team or cost account manager

• Demonstrated effectiveness in achieving results through managing people and understanding and management of internal processes and customer/supplier relationships.

• Strong understanding and broad application of complex engineering systems (engineering standards, configuration management, material review board, process control, tooling, facilities, software, etc.)

• Strong oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience with high value customer presentations, with ability to focus on multiple projects with competing priorities

• Experience in working closely with customers to ensure delivery of systems that meet warfighter needs

• Ability to collaborate and achieve consensus when dealing with groups from diverse organizations and backgrounds

• Demonstrated experience in making sound decisions in uncertain and difficult situations

• Strong sense of urgency and work ethic in ensuring engineering meets customer and program expectations in a timely and efficient manner

• Professional Engineer license granted in either architecture engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, or structural engineering

• Demonstrated experience with industrial or government construction projects

• Demonstrated experience with ICBM equipment deployment activities across multiple missile wings

Salary Range: $154,300 USD - $231,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
