Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking an AVE Lab Operation Manager 1 to join our team of highly qualified and diverse individuals. This position will be located in Roy, UT and will support the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. Learn more about the GBSD program here. Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and associated infrastructure.

What you will get to do:

The Aerospace Vehicle Equipment (AVE) Lab Operations Manager 1 will report to the AVE Integration and Test Lab Manager. This individual will be responsible for the overall Sentinel Missile hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) lab operations to include day-to-day operations, safety, network and cybersecurity, configuration management, shipping and receiving, and coordination with facility maintenance. To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate must be a driver and leader for collaboration across many different sub-IPT teams for a successful integration test of the missile hardware and software configuration. The candidate must also have familiarity with a lab environment.

In this position, the AVE Lab Operations Manager will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

  • Lab Safety – Lead the lab team in the implementation of environmental safety, occupational safety, and health policies, establish and implement emergency procedures, ensure proper storage and disposal of hazardous materials in accordance with applicable laws, codes, and regulations, and coordinate with facility maintenance.
  • Configuration Management - Maintain the configuration baseline for all lab configurations, configure the lab to support test objectives, create and maintain a hardware/software configuration matrix for inclusion in turnover-to-test packages, ensure appropriate documentation is received for all element hardware/software received, support lab change requests, maintain standard operating procedures, and perform asset tracking and management.
  • Lab Networking and System Administration - Coordinate with cybersecurity personnel for all equipment entering or exiting the lab, perform data transfers, maintain lab networks, and coordinate with COMSEC custodian as required.
  • Equipment Maintenance, Manufacturing and Purchasing - Coordinate with supply chain management to track receipt of purchase orders and purchase requests, purchase tools and ancillary equipment, prepare kitting as required, implement calibration procedures and tracking, and fabricate fixtures and cabling as required.
  • Employee Management – Oversee the performance, progression and mentoring of the Integration, Assembly, Test and Checkout engineers on the team.  Authority to manage personnel and direct activities required to accomplish the statement of work.
  • Schedule and Cost Reporting Management – Accountable for timely cost and schedule status and reporting to upper-level management to support program management reviews.
  • Travel – May be required to travel up to 10% of the time.

These positions will have a standard work schedule of 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 5 years. An additional 4 years of experience may be used in lieu of a degree.
  • 1 year of experience leading the performance of tasks on schedule, at cost and achieving all requirements as either a project lead, integrated program team or cost account manager.
  • Demonstrated success leading teams/and or organizations to achieve a common goal.
  • 3 years of experience with system integration, the application of test principles, and/or test plan development at any level of build (unit, sub-system, system, etc.).
  • Active Secret Clearance investigated within the last 5 years.
  • 1 year of experience with Agile processes and tools
  • US Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline and 8 years’ experience, or Master’s and 5 years’ experience, supporting US Government contracts and customers and/or project management in other industries.
  • Previous ICBM Experience is a plus.
  • Previous Experience standing up a lab environment/Hardware in the Loop test bed.
  • Knowledge and experience using CAMEO and/or Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) Principles.
  • Experience using DOORS Requirements Management Database.
  • Active Department of Defense (DoD) Top Secret Clearance.

Salary Range: $96,700 USD - $145,100 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
