Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Deputy IPT Lead (Manager 3) for the Onboard Test Equipment Development (OBTE) IPT within the Aerospace Vehicle Equipment (AVE) Segment. This position will be located in Roy, UT with occasional travel to other hub locations that will support the Sentinel (GBSD) program.  The Sentinel AVE/Missile OBTE Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead will share accountability for every aspect of day-to-day program execution. The Deputy IPT Lead serves an integral role in cultivating the Customer relationship, actively managing team requirements, and shaping and nurturing program and team culture. The Deputy IPT leads program management office business battle rhythm across the IPT, operations, teaming, and is able to efficiently execute the OBTE statement of work. This position reports directly to the OBTE Director to align strategic priorities and tasking and is granted IPT Lead Delegation of Authority (DOA).

Sentinel OBTE Deputy IPT Lead responsibilities include: 

  • Assist the IPT Lead and acting as the primary delegate for all IPT leadership activities
  • Integrated program performance management (cost, schedule, EVMS, technical execution, risk & opportunity, quality) to deliver on all contract commitments
  • Day-to-day operational, contractual, and programmatic change management across all aspects/phases of the Sentinel Program (EMD, Advanced Procurement, and Production)
  • Coordinate/interface across multiple IPTs to define, develop and integrate the OBTE system
  • Integrated program demand planning (staffing, infrastructure, clearances, etc)
  • Integrated program approach to sub-contract management to strengthen partnerships and drive performance
  • Support to strategic planning and professional development/organization efficiency initiatives
  • Drive technical performance with engineering oversight and insight to successfully develop the OBTE system, including development and delivery of data packages, including CDRL deliverables
  • Help prepare for and execute OBTE CDR and oversee the development and execution of lower-level CDR/IDRs, including sub-contract IDRs
  • Guide OBTE IA&T to support program flight test program
  • Ability to create and maintain trusted relationships with internal and external customers
  • Success in leading and developing cross functional teams
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, with all levels of management and individual contributors

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of related technical experience, or a Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of experience.
  • 3+ years in a formal management/leadership role of team or department.
  • 3+ years of experience leading the performance of tasks on schedule, at cost and achieving all requirements as either project lead, integrated program team or cost account manager.
  • Active Secret US security clearance with reinvestigation within 6 years
  • Ability to obtain special program access

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading engineering development of Onboard Test Equipment (Telemetry Systems, Instrumentation, Flight Termination Systems, Integration & Test, Range Safety Requirements (AF-MAN 91-710), Flight Testing)
  • Prior experience interfacing with prime contractor integrated product team (IPT) leads and USAF leadership personnel
  • Technical leadership experience, direction and mentoring to other technical employees in the application of scientific principles, tools and techniques to achieve practical end results.
  • Knowledge of configuration management best practices
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and meet program commitments in a highly concurrent engineering environment
  • Ability to effectively maneuver through political situation and anticipate roadblocks
  • Good organizational skills and ability to work with minimal direction
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to obtain a Top Secret Clearance (w/ Poly) and/or Special Program Access (SAP)Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Salary Range: $151,200 USD - $228,100 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
