Northrop Grumman’s Space Systems sector is looking for the Command & Launch Chief Engineer supporting the LGM-35A Sentinel Office of the Chief Engineer in our SDS Division. This leadership role is located in Roy, Utah. Learn more about the Sentinel (GBSD) program here. Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and associated infrastructure.

Role and Responsibilities: 

The Chief Engineer for the Command and Launch Segment, reporting to the Office of the Chief Engineer has specific duties to include, but are not limited to the following:

• Manage the Command and Launch Technical Baseline
• Driving technical execution in support of major program events
• Collaborating within the Office of the Chief Engineer to deliver exceptional customer value
• Focusing horizontally on resolving high-level Systems challenges
• Driving technical execution within all areas of the Command and Launch Segment
• Ensuring execution of overall technical plan within the Integrated Master Schedule
• Supporting strategic SDS Division initiatives on tools, processes, and cross-segment technical reviews
• Driving technical rigor into technical interchange meetings with Sentinel partners
• Utilizing Model-Based Engineering to deliver a highly sustainable Weapon System
• Advising program technical leadership on program, schedule, and technical matters

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.   This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) with 20+ years’ experience (including 14+ years of progressive engineering experience) or 18+ years’ experience with a Master’s degree; or 15+ years’ experience with a PhD 
• Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years or in continues evaluation.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) Clearance  
• Minimum 5 years of experience formally leading engineering teams/and or organizations to achieve a common goal.

Preferred Qualifications:

• ICBM or complex aerospace and ground systems experience
• NC3, NC2 and cyber security command and control system accreditation experience
• Airborne command and control design experience
• Familiarity with IT and Supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) computer processing and networking methods
• Large scale RF terrestrial and hardline communication system design experience 
• Physical security technical experience such as access control, fixed site monitoring systems and response force management to protect PL-1N facilities
• Familiarity with facility, power and infrastructure engineering and construction technologies and scheduling methods.
• Strong analytical abilities in electrical, mechanical and civil engineering areas
• Experience in nuclear hostile environment analysis
• Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience
• Agile sprint planning and workflow execution and results monitoring experience
• Design Engineering/Computer-aided Design (CAD) experience and engineering releases utilizing Product Lifecycle Management tools
• Prior experience interfacing with prime contractor site leads and USAF leadership personnel
• Active DoD TS/SCI clearance
• Experience leading the performance of tasks on schedule, at cost and achieving all requirements as either project lead, integrated program team or cost account manager
• Demonstrated effectiveness in achieving results through managing people and understanding and management of internal processes and customer/supplier relationships.
• Strong understanding and broad application of complex engineering systems (engineering standards, configuration management, material review board, process control, tooling, facilities, software, etc.)
• Strong oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience with high value customer presentations, with ability to focus on multiple projects with competing priorities
• Experience in working closely with customers to ensure delivery of systems that meet warfighter needs
• Ability to collaborate and achieve consensus when dealing with groups from diverse organizations and backgrounds
• Demonstrated experience in making sound decisions in uncertain and difficult situations
• Strong sense of urgency and work ethic in ensuring engineering meets customer and program expectations in a timely and efficient manner

Salary Range: $171,400 USD - $257,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
