Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Senior Staff Instrumentation Systems Engineer to join our team of highly qualified and diverse individuals. This candidate will join Northrop Grumman’s Space System team supporting the Air Force’s Sentinel (Ground Based Strategic Deterrent - GBSD) program.

This position will be either located in Roy, UT, or a hybrid telecommuting position involving 25% or more travel to Roy, UT to perform work in classified areas as required. This individual will serve as the Subject Matter Expert for the On Board Test Equipment Flight Test Instrumentation and Electrical Analysis

What You’ll Get To Do:
  • Provide technical oversight and issue resolution for On Board Test Equipment hardware during development and test.  

  • Provide technical direction and support to the hardware, software, and systems engineering teams in the development and documentation of On Board Test Equipment and AFSS

  • Assist OBTE IPT Lead and OBTE Chief Engineer in risk identification and tracking, especially risks associated with OBTE and AFSS hardware 

  • Provide other support to the OBTE Chief Engineer as needed

You'll Bring These Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) with 14 years of engineering experience; 12 years with Masters; 9 Years with PhD 

  • Flight Test Instrumentation Operations Experience

  • Flight Test Instrumentation Architect Experience 

  • CAD skills with experience developing wire diagrams and/or electrical schematics  

  • Must have US Citizenship with an active DoD Secret Clearance granted or reinvestigated within the last 6 years 

  • Must have the ability to obtain, and maintain access to Special Access Programs (SAP)  as a condition of continued employment

  • (non-local candidates): Willingness and ability to travel, up to and/or exceeding, 25% of the time to classified site (Roy, UT) as required by the business

These Qualifications would be Nice to Have:
  • 20+ years of engineering experience on military / aerospace programs

  • Experience with TTC and ACRA instrumentation data systems

  • An active DoD Top Secret Clearance granted or reinvestigated within the last 6 years

This position reports to Roy, UT, USA, however, this position can also be worked from Unknown City, UT, UT, USA.


Salary Range: $154,300 USD - $231,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
