Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Lab Operations Manager 1.  This position will be located in Roy, Utah and will support the Sentinel (GBSD) program.  This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.  

 

Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a multidisciplinary individual that is comfortable working as an individual as well as team contributors. The role of a Support & Training Lab Manager has a multitude of responsibilities that require a Lab Manager to perform on a daily basis.

  

What You’ll Get To Do:    

·         Supervisory or management responsibilities for the Support & Training Segment Laboratories at multiple classification levels assigned to the Sentinel program, to include design, integration, operations, and maintenance.

·         Manages within the larger organizational unit, setting & operating to objectives & providing guidance to subordinates based on goals, objectives & company policy.

·         Responsible for all projects assigned to the organizational group. Advisor to discipline managers and exempt employees. Helps meet established schedules or resolve technical or operational problems. Typically accomplishes results through lower level(s) of management or exempt employees.

·         Establishes operating procedures that affect organizational unit(s). Interprets, executes, and recommends modifications to organizational policies. Establishes operating policies and procedures that affect subordinate organizational units.

·         Compliance management, responsible for maintaining training certificates of all lab users using Northrop Grumman’s LX training database for ESD, FOD, KeyPoint, HAZCOM and all over coursework deemed necessary by management and facilities engineering

·         Maintain security features of the lab, add and delete lab users from the alarm panel, provide open & close training to new personnel, change door combinations quarterly due to staff turnover, etc.

·         Compliance inspection, daily sweeps inspecting for ESD, FOD and safety related infractions, taking necessary corrective action and educating lab users to prevent future mishaps

·         Property management, track all program, corporate and customer owned property, interface with property management for accountability of items

·         Actively monitors the configuration management of lab work spaces, communicates changes or executes the need to change as requested by users and provides an assessment of the change to program

·         Maintain one or more safes for secure storage of program assets, coordinate combination changes with security due to staff turnover, provide combinations to program personnel when request

·         Order of new materials or equipment, tracking the order and documenting the ownership of the item based off the funding used to procure it

·         Provides guidance to subordinates based on organizational goals and company policy.

·         Work is reviewed in terms of meeting the organizations objectives and schedules.

·         Regularly requires analysis of alternative courses of action. Decisions have risk/reward implications for program or area of influence.

·         Accomplishes results through subordinate supervisors, or exempt specialist employees.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.    

  

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:  

•    Bachelors of Science Degree from an accredited university with 6 years of experience; 4 years with a Masters of Science of Degree; An additional 4 years of experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree
•   1+ years prior management / leadership experience that includes oversight of engineering projects or program activities
•    Active Secret Clearance or higher (awarded within the past 5 years)
  

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:  

·         US Citizenship with an Active Top Secret Clearance (awarded within the past 5 years)

·         Prior lab management experience

·         Control Account Manager Training

·         Demonstrated experience working with cross-functional teams and customers

·         Experience executing in an AGILE environment

·         Experience in Test automation (development and execution)

·         Demonstrated knowledge and use of instrumentation and data acquisition type systems


Salary Range: $96,700 USD - $145,100 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
