Northrop Grumman Strategic Deterrent Systems Division (SDS) has an opening for Engineering Manager 3 – Supplier Management Team Center of Excellence Lead to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This Division level position will be in Roy, UT.

What You’ll Get To Do:

As the Supplier Management Team (SMT) Engineering Management Center of Excellence (CoE) Lead you will work with a dynamic team providing Engineering Management leadership and direction in support of multi-million dollar major subcontractor performance management in the Space Systems Strategic Deterrent Systems Division (SP SDS) headquartered in Roy, Utah.

This role will provide leadership, overall vision and strategy, operations, process and tool/application alignment for Supplier Management Teams (SMTs) and their functional team leads within Space Systems Strategic Deterrent Systems Division (SP SDS).  You will enjoy a vigorous and challenging work environment focused on excellence in a leading edge high technology arena.

  • To accelerate the success of current and future SMT leads and team members supporting Strategic Deterrent Systems Division (SDS) Programs
  • To provide Supplier Management Teams (SMTs) with access to tools and guidance to execute supplier program efforts successfully and efficiently
  • To provide Supplier Management Teams (SMTs) with specific training curriculum that complements the NG Development Center and Program Management curriculums
  • To set clear expectations for Supplier Management Teams (SMTs)
  • To create cross-company networking opportunities with peers, SMEs, and executives

Roles & Responsibilities:

This role will lead efforts to define and promote the use of standardized Supplier Management Team (SMT) rules, processes, best practices, and tools for improved program supplier management performance.

This role will have responsibility to:

  • Drive the direction and strategy of Supplier Management Team (SMT) construct competency for the Division.
  • Ensure Supplier facing Engineering Management competency development of all SMT Lead staff and the expansion of SMT general knowledge across the organization through various learning and development initiatives and services.
  • Act as a central hub for Supplier management team best practices, systems (including a document repository), standards, guidance, and tools.
  • Ensure continuous improvement of the internal SMT practices and other resources to meet the demands of the Engineering execution initiatives across the organization.
  • Provide advisory and coaching support to SMT staff and project stakeholders on the application of the SMT practices.
  • Act as Division champion and advocate for the SMT best practices and enables thoughtful engagement and information sharing by supporting the SMT construct and communications process.
  • Some travel may be required

These responsibilities have a common goal: enable proposal and programmatic efforts of Supplier Management Teams (SMTs) to achieve high-IMPACT outcomes for Division initiatives through enhanced predictability, reliability, transparency, and accountability support from the Center of Excellence (CoE).

These positions will have a standard work schedule of 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) related discipline with 8 years of experience in support of Global Supply Chain, Engineering Management or a Portfolio level discipline
  • 3 years leadership experience with managing cross functional teams, leading projects, budgets and schedules.
  • At least 3 years of experience supporting U.S. Government contracts and/or large supplier management portfolio experience in other industries
  • At least 3 years of financial experience in EVMS or similar cost and schedule management systems
  • At least 2 years of experience managing a Program effort or Major Subcontract (in either a supply chain, SMT, or program/project management role)
  • Must have an active and current DoD Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to provide strategic direction regarding Program Management or Supply Chain products, processes, applications, and technology.
  • The qualified candidate must be customer-focused with proven leadership skills and excellent communication skills.
  • Candidate must be entrepreneurial, self-starter and can challenge the status quo.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience supporting U.S. Government contracts and customers and/or large supplier management portfolio experience in other industries; OR Master’s Degree and 8 years’ experience supporting U.S. Government contracts and customers and/or large supplier management portfolio experience in other industries

Salary Range: $138,400 USD - $207,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
