Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Mechanical Engineer / Principal Mechanical Engineer to join the Command and Launch Team. This position is located in Huntsville, AL and supports the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. Final grade level will be based on candidate level of experience.

What You’ll Get To Do:

The selected candidate will be responsible for designing equipment associated with the Operational Command and Control sub-system.  This will include layout design in NX CAD of all computer based networked rack systems and additional components related to the overall system design and the gathering of product information and the eventual submission of packages for program and government review & acceptance. This role will require candidate to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams to support hardware development, have a proactive nature, exhibit analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, and be able to quickly understand tasking. Tasks and responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

• Design and Modeling in 3D CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software

• Creating released engineering drawings using CAD software

• End-user support during integration operations

• Possible Conceptual design(s)

• Requirements definition and refinement

• Integration & Test process flow development

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. Relocation assistance may be available.

You'll Bring These Qualifications:

Pincipal Engineer: Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 5 years of experience; 3 years with Master’s Degree; 0 years with PhD

Engineer: Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 2 years of experience; 0 years with Master’s Degree

• Experience performing CAD modeling of and drawing creation for mechanical systems

• Proficient in Microsoft Suite Software

• Experience drafting and reviewing mechanical drawings for Network Architecture

• Familiarity with DevSecOps, continuous integration, and continuous delivery

• Ability to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical personnel

• Ability to understand and interpret requirements

• Must have US Citizenship with an Active DoD Secret clearance, granted or re-investigated within last 6 years

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

• Experience with Siemens NX for 3D modeling and 2D engineering drawings

• Experience with development of Product Definition Packages (PDP) or similar type of design definition product

Salary Range: $66,600 USD - $99,800 USD

Salary Range 2: $82,000 USD - $123,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
