Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has a opening for a Staff Structural Analysis Engineer to join our team of qualified diverse individuals. In Vehicle Engineering, we develop manned and unmanned aircraft platforms for all of the programs in the Aerospace Systems Sector

This position will be located in Palmdale, CA and work the 4/10, 2nd shift

  • Monday - Thursday on a 4 day - 10 hours/day schedule. Additional pay for shift differential will apply

We are looking for Engineers who might have specific structural engineering specialties which may include dynamics and loads, stability and stress fatigue and thermal analysis. Your day-to-day activities will be to analyze, research and develop structural engineering analysis packages involving metals, non-metallic or composite structural materials for product design, or operation of product. This might include structures, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronics, power plant, armament, heating and ventilating, equipment and maintenance designs. You will analyze damage tolerance, durability, design allowables and structural modeling.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineer or Aerospace Engineering and 14 years of experience with a background in structural analysis OR a Master's Degree in the above listed degree areas with 12 years of structural analysis experience; OR a PhD in the above listed degree areas with 9 years of structural analysis experience.
  • Experience in Structural Analysis Methods and documentation, including hand-sheet analysis, as well as the development and manipulation of large Finite Element Models.
  • Must have an active DoD Secret clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance prior to the commencement of employment. This SAP must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering
  • Aerospace structural analysis experience using NASTRAN, PATRAN, or FEMAP.
  • Experience in Bonded Composite Structural Analysis of primary and secondary aircraft structures
  • Experience with analysis of composite and/or metallic structure and repair methods
  • Experience in structural testing (building block or full-scale test)
  • Experience as a Lead Engineer managing a small group of analysts
  • Analysis experience in a MRB role
  • Experience working on Special Access Programs
  • Experience working on military aircraft
  • Experience with durability and damage tolerance (DaDT) of aircraft structures

Salary Range: $161,000 USD - $241,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
