Northrop Grumman Strategic Space Systems Division (SSSD) has an opening for a Structural Analysis Section Manager 2. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, California.
 

The Structural Analysis Section Manager 2 will lead a group of approximately 15 engineers responsible for the structural analysis of components, subsystems, and system-level program work packages, ranging from T01 to T06 levels. The selected candidate will provide support to multiple space programs in both unclassified and classified environments.
 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and direction to team members
  • Ensure members have sufficient statements of work
  • Manage employee performance (including engagement strategies for higher performers and corrective actions for lower performers)
  • Coordinate with programs to ensure appropriate staffing/de-staffing actions are developed and executed relative to their section
  • Ensure employees are familiar with, and use required engineering processes and tools.
  • Resolve technical challenges on programs involving section members.
  • Make decisions regarding the required escalation and resources needed for resolution.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the organization including employee movement and balancing of resources among programs; and resolving critical/urgent program/technical issues.
     

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related STEM discipline.
  • 5 years of space structures analysis or related experience.
  • Experience with industry-standard Analysis tools including Nastran and FEMAP. 
  • Candidate must currently have, and be able to maintain, at least ONE of the following active U.S. Government security clearances: active DoD Top Secret – OR – SCI access with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI).
     

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Prior functional management experience or engineering team lead experience
  • Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering
  • Excellent communicator and ability to work well in a team environment

Flexible Schedules: For example, some roles offer the ability to work a 9/80 work schedule, which allows an employee to work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday and take every other Friday off of work


Salary Range: $147,800 USD - $221,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
