Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for an E-2 Structural Design Manager 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This leadership position will be located in Melbourne, Florida.

The successful candidate will manage the functional engineering activities of approximately ten Structural Design Engineers and is responsible for design product integrity, process adherence, staffing, training, and tools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical oversight, participation in the performance review process, management of personnel records and participation in corrective or disciplinary actions.
  • Staffing responsibilities may include hiring, reduction in force actions, recruiting of personnel and working to ensure that liaison engineers with the appropriate skills and experience are deployed.
  • The ability to manage training opportunities and budget allocations, as well as participation in tool, process, and metric initiatives is required.
  • Team engagement is a key focus.
  • The ability to mentor, provide career guidance and coaching, and to lead others is required.
  • In addition to managing the team the candidate will be responsible for fulfilling a structural design statement of work which may include participation in the RCI reviews, participating in design reviews, creating engineering drawings or drawing changes utilizing NX and Teamcenter software.

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline AND 9 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering that includes a background in aircraft design, OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline AND 7 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering that includes a background in aircraft design.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an active DoD Secret clearance, Interim DoD secret clearance required to start

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering.
  • Proven history of leadership
  • Proficiency with NX and TeamCenter software.
  • Experience interfacing with a DoD customer.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate within a team and across team environments
  • Ability to prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish the project result.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and/or accomplishing them simultaneously.
  • Ability to comprehend and analyze complex problems and develop design solutions.
  • Ability to lead an engineering or cross-functional team.

    Salary Range: $112,700 USD - $169,100 USD

    Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
