This position is for the Structural Analysis Engineer with emphasis in Multi-Body Dynamics (MBD), reporting to MBD/Analysis manager. The successful candidate will be a part of the growing team of MBD engineers who are responsible for motion simulations of various on-orbit servicing and robotics operations, as well as detailed kinematics simulations of underlying mechanical/mechatronics systems.

Essential Functions:

As a MBD engineer, he/she will use expert knowledge of MBD, as well as structural dynamics, to provide design guidance to the programs and systems/subsystems engineering teams.

  • The assignment might also involve testing of prototypes and flight hardware, and simulation model correlations.
  • The job will require strong understanding of computational methods and ability to process and produce reliable interpretations of complex simulation/test data.
  • The assignments will also include Finite Element Analysis tasks (stress/strength, vibration, and loads analyses).
  • As an expert of Computer Aided Engineering (CAE), the candidate's tasks, up to 10% of the total work hours, might involve maintenance/deployment of engineering applications and computational resources, including specialized computational desktops and servers.
  • The physical job location is Dulles, Virginia.

Basic Qualifications:

This is a dual requisition and can be filled at the Structural Engineer or Principal Structural Engineer level. Qualifications for each level listed below.

Basic Qualifications for Structural Engineer 2:

  • ABET accredited Graduate Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline along with 2 years' experience OR an ABET Masters Degree in a STEM discipline.
  • Demonstrated excellence in a space vehicle dynamics/kinematics field such as structural design, stress analysis, materials, and/or vehicle dynamics.
  • You must also be able to obtain and maintain all required security clearances and program specific accesses.

Basic Qualifications for Principal Structural Engineer 3:

  • ABET accredited Graduate Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline along with 5+ Years' experience OR an ABET Masters Degree with 3 Years of experience OR a PhD Degree in a STEM discipline..
  • Demonstrated excellence in a space vehicle dynamics/kinematics field such as structural design, stress analysis, materials, and/or vehicle dynamics.
  • You must also be able to obtain and maintain all required security clearances and program specific accesses.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ABET accredited PhD Degree in Engineering.
  • Ability to obtain DoD Top Secret Clearance. - Expert knowledge of NGC MBD Robotics engineering processes.
  • 3 years of space system simulation engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated success in leadership/management roles.
  • Experience with Simcenter 3D Motion simulation tool.
  • Experience in controller modeling using Matlab/Simulink


Salary Range: $85,000 USD - $127,400 USD
Salary Range 2: $104,600 USD - $157,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
