Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSP) is looking for you to join our team as a Staff Engineer Mechanical based out of Fairfax, VA or Linthicum, MD.

What You’ll get to Do:

Research, plan, design and develop mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering or other STEM related degree with 14 + years of experience;12 years with a Master's; 9 years with a PhD; or 18 years of experience in lieu of a degree.

• Active TS/SCI or TS with SCI eligibility, and willingness to sit for a poly security clearance

• Mechanical Engineering domain expertise (ideally rack elevation layouts, interconnect cable layouts, assembly management, and facility layouts)

• Experience with 3-dimensional line-of-sight facility layout analysis (especially for RFI analysis)

• Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) software.

• Experience with creating and controlling engineering documentation for formal milestone reviews

• Familiarity with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) using SysML

• Experience developing technical requirements (especially for civil engineering / facilities)

• Experience interfacing with program and customer personnel. 

• Strong written and oral communications skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Active TS/SCI with poly

• Experience with Civil Engineering projects

• Experience conducting trade-studies

• Experience briefing at formal milestone reviews

• Experience in working with multiple subcontractors

This position reports to Fairfax, VA, USA, however, this position can also be worked from Linthicum, MD, MD, USA.

Salary Range: $139,400 USD - $209,000 USD

Salary Range 2: $146,000 USD - $219,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
