Northrop Grumman Defense Systems (NGDS), F-35 Sustainment HPSI Operating Unit, has an opening for a Principal Flight Safety Analyst to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. You will be assigned as a Principal Flight Safety Analyst supporting F-35 organizational maintenance at MCAS Yuma, AZ.  Your Mission will be to support O-Level maintenance on F-35. Hybrid/Telework "May" be available for this position.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identifies hazardous workplace conditions and takes preliminary samples and measurements of hazardous forces and toxic substances.
  • Protect employees by removal of hazards, revising work procedures, and training or requiring use of protective clothing and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Takes effective steps to ensure that workplace conditions comply with applicable federal and state OSHA provisions of any labor agreement, ensuring that all required records are prepared and maintained.
  • Participates in Occupational Safety & Health Administration inspections and in any procedures that may follow a citation. Investigates, prepares, and forwards as required reports on injuries and fatalities.
  • Conducts safe work procedures training courses. Develops Foreign Object Damage prevention procedure and performs workplace audits per NAS 412 and DCMA 8210.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.  Comfortable navigating ambiguity and interacting professionally primarily with compliance regulators and customers.
  • Must be willing to provide temporary support to our other CLS locations and/or emerging deployments.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule that may include extended shifts, holidays, and weekends and support on call status for 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week, 365 days a year.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and 9 years of related experience. Will consider a Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years of Flightline Safety or Quality Assurance related work experience; Or, 3 years with Masters.
  • Working knowledge of industrial (OSHA), DoD, Fighter Aircraft Maintenance and other safety requirements, documents, and standards.
  • Must be US Citizen.
  • Must have an Active Secret Clearance or higher with the ability to maintain.
  • Special Access Program clearance, as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health and Safety, Aviation Safety Management, Aerospace and Occupational Safety.
  • F-35 Flightline maintenance experience.
  • F-35 Quality Assurance experience.
  • U. S. Navy or U. S. Marine Corps experience with thorough understanding of F-35 Fighter Aircraft Systems and operations under COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 and 4790.35.
  • Previous Safety Training or Supervisor experience.
  • Experience and training with DoD, Navy, and USMC safety regulations.
  • Experience in Root Cause Analysis and Corrective/Preventative Action determination.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience in a Military-focused Customer Service-Related Industry.
  • Highly skilled in using MS Excel, Power Point, Word, etc.


Salary Range: $70,600 USD - $106,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
